Is Julian Lewis's commitment to USC rock-solid, or could Indiana sway him with their resurgence?

Indiana is one of the hot stories of college football this season. How did they become good again? Every fan is wondering. Naturally, with those improvements in the program and ‘Ws’ in the overall record, there is genuine interest from future college football players. One such player has already committed to the USC for 2025. Julian Lewis, a 5-star class of 2025 QB, was rumored to visit the Indiana vs Nebraska clash today.

However, new reports suggest that Lewis did not make it to the game. Senior stats writer at UCF football and college football recruiter Connor Morrissette shared on ‘X’, “I can confirm that 2025 USC QB commit Julian Lewis did not visit Indiana today. @adamgorney reported the news first.

Lewis, the Carrollton High School player who is the No. 6 QB (32 overall) in the 2025 class, has been committed to USC for over a year. However, is it a sure thing? Well, Lewis’ actions created doubts among college football fans when he arrived in Indiana for an official visit in May this year.

Currently sitting at an 8-0 start, Lewis has impressed everyone with his performances. Numbers are staggering. 1,843 yards and 28 touchdowns. Above all, his completion rate is 77% so far this year. The best part? Just 4 interceptions. No wonder multiple programs are interested in him. However, his absence at Indiana must relieve the USC recruiters, who would love to have the services of their commit for 2025. Julian Lewis, who is popularly called ‘Ju Ju’, never in his wildest dreams, thought he’d regret his decision. The team he rejected to be at USC is swiping away all its previous records by beating their opponent Nebraska in week eight of the college football game.

Now that we know he didn’t go to watch this game, let’s say if he had gone to watch the way Indiana is roaring against Nebraska, chances are there he could have changed his mind. We’re writing this with less than 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter, and the score is 49-7 in favor of Indiana. Let’s look at this game from the start and wait for a few more minutes for it to get complete.

From the very start, Indiana took the lead, scoring the first touchdown. That was it for the first quarter. In the second quarter, Indiana scored another touchdown with a catch by Myles Price. After that, Ty Son Lawton ran in a score for IU with 3:47 left in the second quarter, and the score was 21-7 with India’s strong lead. With barely one minute left in the second quarter, Justice Ellison ran for a 31-yard touchdown, reaching the 28-7 score. 

Coming to the third quarter, invading swiftly increased its points with a touchdown pass from Tavern Jackson to Miles Cross, making the score go up to 35-7. Later on, with 1:46 left in the third quarter, Tyaven Jackson threw another touchdown, moving to 42-7. Finally, with 13:01 left in the fourth quarter, Gallon Black ran in a 10-yard score with Indiana rolling at 49-7. With the last minute left in the game, the score was 56-7. That was it! Indiana won, and how? It must have been one of the most memorable games in the history of the program. Don’t you think the 2025 commit should have waited at least for this game to be over before jumping to a final decision?
