Can that latest visit seal the deal? 5-star Jared Curtis has had powerhouses fighting for his attention for months. But after weeks of speculation, the No. 1 QB in the 2026 class has narrowed his decision down to two schools—Oregon and Georgia. And we’re already getting a clearer picture now. After his unofficial visit to Dan Lanning‘s school, the buzz surrounding his recruitment has only intensified.

Jared Curtis and his family spent March 8-12 in Eugene, soaking in everything the Ducks had to offer. And per On3 Recruits’ X report on March 12, Oregon didn’t disappoint. “Oregon made No. 1 QB Jared Curtis and his family feel at home on their visit to Eugene over the weekend,” it posted Steve Wiltfong’s report. It was a great visit,” Curtis’ mother, Barbara, told On3. “We had a great time! And learned a lot about what he’s building.” This visit wasn’t just about football.

The trip to Oregon was about relationships, ones that have been growing over Curtis’ previous trips to Eugene. “It was great to fellowship with the coaches and staff,” Barbara continued. “We learned more about the school and program. Our relationship deepened, and I appreciate all they did to ensure our visit went well! I walked away feeling good, if Jared chose to go there.” A solid endorsement right there.

Dan Lanning and the Ducks have been consistently pushing hard for Jared Curtis and there’s no reason why not. In addition to being the top QB prospect of his class, he’s also the No. 4 overall player. Last season, the 6’4, 225-pounder led Nashville Christian School to a 13-1 record and a state championship, earning Gatorade Tennessee Football Player of the Year honors. His numbers speak for themselves—2,672 passing yards and 38 TDs while also adding 577 yards and 14 scores on the ground. But while Oregon seems to be leading the race, Georgia’s yet to prove itself.

Georgia’s not out of Jared Curtis’ recruitment race

Kirby Smart will get an unofficial shot at overdoing what Oregon did to make Jared Curtis and his family special. He’ll be at Georgia from March 13-16, giving the Bulldogs a prime opportunity to make their case. Athens is an advantageous landing spot for the Tennessee native as far as proximity is concerned. And the QB is no stranger to Smart’s program. He originally committed to Georgia in March 2024 before reopening his commitment in October.

Jared Curtis also has official visits scheduled to both schools in June, Oregon (June 6) and Georgia (June 13). But there’s a growing feeling that his commitment won’t last that long. Steve Wiltfong believes that the decision could surface after these spring visits, and it could trend towards Oregon. “I think there are times where Curtis really sees himself playing at Oregon, and they’ve been the leader as of late,” he said. “The connection with offensive coordinator Will Stein and Dan Lanning, the way the Ducks have played over the last three years, and the trajectory of the program are exciting.”
