Sorry to burst Georgia’s bubble. But there’s a potential impending setback. When Jared Curtis first committed to the Bulldogs last March, it looked like Kirby Smart had locked down his next QB. But as any college football fan knows, recruiting is never over until the ink dries. The 5-star QB hit the reset button in October and reopened his commitment. But fast forward to today; his interest is down to two schools.

Georgia’s still very much in the mix. And the $88K buzz fueled the Dawgs’ hope. Just a couple of days ago, a sleek Chevrolet Corvette C8 surfaced with the caption “Off the lot!” But it wasn’t just any Corvette. The car was painted in a shade that curiously resembles—“Georgia Bulldogs red.” Was this a silent commitment? A cryptic message? Or just wishful thinking? Leave it to Steve Wiltfong to set the record straight.

On the March 5 episode of On3 Recruits, Wiltfong hinted that Jared Curtis might not even make it to his scheduled official visits before committing. “We talked about Jared Curtis on last week’s Wiltfong Whiparound and about would his recruitment make it to the official visits in June,” he said. “And I said I would not be surprised if he made his decision sooner.” The 2026 coveted top QB is set to visit Oregon one more time on March 8 before returning to Athens on March 13.

After these visits, Steve Wiltfong believes that Jared Curtis could sit down “with his family, his agent, and make that final decision between Georgia and Oregon and start helping recruit for his next football team.” Dawgs fans might feel good about that $88K Corvette but the recruiting expert believes Dan Lanning could be the winner heading into the spring. “I would give the edge to Oregon going into these spring visits,” he declared.

This unrelenting battle between Oregon and Georgia isn’t just about landing a blue-chip QB. It’s about securing a program leader who stands at 6’4, 225-pounds. Jared Curtis led Nashville Christian to a DII-A State Championship in 2024, throwing for 2,830 yards and 40 scores while adding 637 rushing yards and 18 TDs. His junior year earned him Tennessee’s Gatorade Player of the Year and Mr. Football honors. So it’s no secret that Georgia is desperate to keep him in Athens.

Oregon vs. Georgia: Where will Jared Curtis go?

If there’s one program that can go toe-to-toe with Georgia in recruiting right now, it’s Oregon. The Ducks are flexing their recruiting upsides, landing the No. 5 class for 2025 and sitting atop the 2026 rankings, per On3 and 247Sports. With Bo Nix’s success and the rise of the Ducks under Dan Lanning, the program has become a prime landing spot for elite QBs.

For now, Jared Curtis is playing close to the vest. “I will wait until official visits to make my decision,” he stated on On3. “I will get out more. When official visits open up, I will get down on some visits, see the school, and see what I like about it.” He’s locked in visits to Eugene from March 8th to 12th, followed immediately by Athens from March 13th to 16th. Then, he’ll return for official visits later, with Oregon on June 6th and Georgia on June 13th. But as Wiltfong speculated, the date of his decision might not stretch that far.
