The recruitment war rages on for college football teams! With signing day fast approaching, every program is pushing itself to get those who are open for recruitment or even those who are committed to them flip. Here is yet another one of those uncommitted players- Jahkeem Stewart. The 5-star No. 3 DL of the 2025 class is pursued by reputable schools like LSU, Oregon, USC, and Ohio State. But the latest intel suggests favoritism towards a Big Ten school.
Chad Simmons made an appearance in a new On3 Recruits YouTube episode on November 14 to discuss Jahkeem Stewart’s future. He mentioned that the No. 15 overall had a “good official visit to LSU” but Brian Kelly and the Tigers shouldn’t celebrate too soon. Simmons said, “Oregon, Ohio State with the main two. USC wants to make a move this coming weekend on the OV as well in Los Angeles but for me, I like where Oregon still sits.” He has done more than just saying this. Stewart is matching his words with his actions.

Jahkeem Stewart made an official trip to Baton Rouge on November 8 for the LSU vs Alabama game. Following the visit, his trainer Clyde Alexander told On3, “LSU was great. There’s still a lot to be discussed, but LSU is showing that they are highly motivated to keep him in the state.” He’s also in warm relationships with USC with whom he’s scheduled for an official visit on November 15. Ohio State is very much in the mix too, with two official visits scheduled in two months.

As for Oregon, Simmons voiced his intrigue at Stewart’s choice of date in his unofficial upcoming visit. He said, “I think a big thing for me to watch here is he’s going back to Oregon on November 23rd when they don’t even play a game. It’s an off-week. It’s about business, you know that brand those conversations, those final meetings.” Dan Lanning and the Ducks must be cooking something up for this dynamic defender in Oregon.

Hailing from Louisiana, Oregon offered Jahkeem Stewart on May 10, 2023, and he later attended the Ducks camp in July. The same year, he recorded 85 tackles, 33 TFL, and 20 sacks to become a MaxPreps Sophomore All-American selection on the DL at New Orleans St. Augustine. He was just 16. This year, he has only made one official visit on November 12 when the Ducks defeated Ohio State in a close 32-31 victory.

Still, Dan Lanning made that one visit worth it as is seen from Stewart’s comments on the visit. He told On3, “I like coach Dan Lanning a lot. The coaches at Oregon know what they are doing. They are No. 1 in the country right now and that speaks for itself. They have a great coaching staff. Coach Dan is a great head coach… He showed me how he would utilize me and utilize my skill when I was on the official visit.” Right now, Oregon is winning the recruiting battle compiling the 7th best class in 2025 with 16 commits including three 5-star commits. We’ll see if they’ll be able to land another 5-star commitment from Jahkeem Stewart.
