Can Michigan withstand Alabama's recruiting power and keep Ivan Taylor in their ranks?

Can Michigan retain the commitment of their 4-star safety Ivan Taylor? Sherrone Moore won when the West Orange High School standout flipped his commitment to Michigan from Notre Dame. But the competition is fierce. It’s Alabama we’re talking about. So, here goes the question again. Can they hold Taylor?

The Wolverines impressed Ivan Taylor, who was present at their 24-17 win against Michigan State. As per Michigan Sports Talk on YouTube on October 30, the highly touted prospect had a great time and described the game atmosphere as “absolutely electric.” He also mentioned how his mother adores Coach Morgan and Coach Martindale. But their upcoming test with No. 1 Oregon could be the ultimate decision maker for Taylor — “[Taylor] said a lot of people are doubting him, but if they get this win against Oregon, they can start going on a streak.”

Programs fight for players who aim to go big with a Super Bowl ambition. Perhaps, that determination and necessary skills are what make safety Ivan Taylor a highly touted 2025 prospect. He’s not only the son of former Pittsburgh Steelers star and 2x SB champ Ike Taylor but he’s already making a name for himself recording 45 total tackles and one interception as a junior last season.

Therefore, it’s not surprising how strong schools recruit despite him being committed. Michigan flipped him from Notre Dame in July and was pledged to the Fighting Irish in December 2023. He’s one of the 12 4-star players that Michigan has recruited for the 2025 class which ranks No. 12 in the nation. But now, the SEC powerhouse has come into the picture.

Can Alabama flip Ivan Taylor from Michigan?

Have an interesting take?

After taking his official visit to Alabama in the spring, Ivan Taylor visited their epic clash with Georgia, where they knocked out the Bulldogs 41-34. Surely a game that had won his interest in Kirby Smart’s program further. “It’s Michigan and Alabama who I talk to,” he told On3. It would be a blow for Michigan if the state of Alabama steals one more of its valuable commits.

Michigan lost a valuable commit in 4-star DL Nathaniel Marshall in late August when he flipped to Auburn. But as far as blue-chip players are concerned, the Wolverines boast their highest-rated commitment in 5-star OT Andrew Babalola. Besides, they’re also at the center of potentially flipping the commitment of the top rated player in the nation Bryce Underwood. The pursuit for Ivan Taylor will continue and Sherrone Moore will have to take their next game very seriously.
