Will DJ Pickett's family ties sway him to Miami, or is LSU's legacy too strong to resist?

Okay so, DJ Pickett. This guy has been all over the news and for good reasons. Marked as the No.1 CB in the nation and also holds a 5-star rating as per 247Sports. It ain’t no wonder that every team out there wants him. However, DJ Pickett has made up his mind. Back on his Instagram story, he shared a snap of himself with the tag “Florida to Louisiana”. Pickett, on On3, had even said that his first pick would always be LSU, and he is locked in for that team. Still, this does not stop Mario Cristobal from trying out his luck. The Hurricanes are on a dominant run this year with zero losses and they ain’t gonna want to lose in the recruitment battle as well.

But there is a twist. Back on On3 Wiltfong Whiparound, Steve Wiltfong makes it clear that there is only one team that will have the joy of having the best CB onboard. “His dad Damien told me earlier this week that his son is locked in with LSU,” Steve mentioned. Looks like Brian Kelly and Co. ain’t gonna lose their CB. The first win for Kelly came when Corey Raymond returned to the Tigers to hand the team’s defense. Grabbing Pickett onto the squad would mean that Kelly is another step closer to bringing back the “Defensive Back University” title for LSU, but the Hurricanes threat is still not over.

See, Pickett’s cousin, Booker Pickett Jr. is playing for the Hurricanes and you know what they say, blood is thicker than water. And that ain’t all. The first Hurricanes game that Pickett managed to witness was the blowout win against the Gators at 41-17. Steve did mention that Pickett will be there at LSU during the Oklahoma game, so Kelly still has a shot at leaving a better impression.

Circling back to what we noted regarding “Defensive Back University”. Pretty sure this will end up becoming the deciding factor. Now why is that? Well, during an interview, Pickett made it clear, “If you are a DB, and Coach Raymond is at LSU, I feel that’s the right place to be at.”

Kelly already has the nod of approval from Pickett’s father and now with Raymond on the squad, there is little to no way the Hurricanes can flip him. But there is another threat Kelly should be thinking about right now. See, Pickett’s fate is pretty clear, but it seems like Kelly could end up losing his No.1 QB recruit.

Michigan Wolverines coming in for the best

Okay, let’s be real. Wolverines ain’t having the best season out of all the teams on the board. They were the undefeated national champs last year and now don’t even have a shot at cracking the Bowl games. Sherrone Moore knows that he cannot do anything to turn this season around, so he has to focus on the future.

And that is pretty much what they did when they slid the $5 million NIL offer to 5-star QB Bryce Underwood. This dude is currently the top QB for the 2025 class and Kelly has him locked in. However, with an offer that big on the table, it switches things up quite a bit.

Now see, the $5 million offer is what On3 reported initially. It was later found that the actual number could double than that. This is not good for LSU cause if Underwood flips, Kelly will not only lose his future QB but will also be at risk of losing a 4-star WR.

See, back on On3 Recruits, Michigan insider EJ Holland made quite the revelation. “I don’t think Meadows would’ve visited Michigan yesterday if there wasn’t some serious interest in Bryce Underwood,” EJ mentioned. Derek Meadows is the WR we are talking about and he is another LSU commit. Kelly’s plans for the future could be in a rough spot. Do let us know where you think these 3 guys should go to?
