The battle for 5-star CB DJ Pickett rages on! Just two weeks and we’ll be seeing pledges on paper. So it’s that time of the year for college football teams when recruiting gets as important as the games. Brian Kelly and LSU still hold the upper hand in this recruitment battle for the nation’s No. 2 CB because of his commitment in July. But it hasn’t stopped other programs like Miami and Georgia from trying to flip him from the Tigers. So what does the latest development bring to the table?

Cane Sport insider Izubee Charles joined Josh Newberg in a new YouTube episode on On3 Recruits on November 21 to deliver fresh Miami recruiting intel. As far as their pursuit for LSU-commit 5-star CB DJ Pickett goes, Charles affirmed that Mario Cristobal is still all in on it. But it looks like there won’t be any more visits for him as the insider reported, “I recently spoke with his father. As of right now, they won’t be taking any visits anywhere. There will be a family camping trip out of state so we’ll have to see how that goes.”

Miami has been a forerunner in the race to flip DJ Pickett who exuded impressive dual-threat abilities last season. He recorded 31 tackles and one interception on defense and 52 passes for 1,033 yards and 15 TDs on offense. One upside for the Hurricanes is that the 6’4, 180-pounder has a cousin on the roster, which could be a welcoming factor.

Steve Wiltfong of On3 also said, “Mario Cristobal has been relentless in his communication. But I think the push is only going to continue as you get close to the early signing period in December.” So the chase isn’t over for the Canes. But can they fight through the tough pull?

LSU and Georgia continue to pursue DJ Pickett

What’s your perspective on:

Can Miami's relentless pursuit flip DJ Pickett, or will LSU's early commitment hold strong?

Have an interesting take?

Last week, DJ Pickett was supposed to be at the Florida game against LSU. Instead, he ended up at the Georgia vs Tennessee game, indicating his leaning towards Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs. Given that the Tigers suffered their third losing streak against the Gators and the Dawgs delivered a big 31-17 defeat to Tennessee in the last game, fans are justified in wondering if this success factor could put Georgia in favor.

LSU, however, hasn’t been idle. They did have DJ Pickett on campus in their previous 42-13 loss against Alabama. Following the visit, Wiltfong reported, “I talked to his dad Damien this morning about the visit. Outside of the outcome of the game, they had a fabulous time.” But as Mr. Pickett said, no more visits. It’s not likely that more updates could surface in two weeks. Perhaps, we’ll just have to wait for the signing day on December 4 for this one after all.
