Could Deion Sanders redefine sports history by playing alongside his sons in a groundbreaking NFL game?

It was crazy when NBA champion LeBron James and his son Bronny James became the first father-son duo to play together in an NBA game. “It’s a moment I’m never going to forget,” said LeBron of the Los Angeles Lakers’ season opener game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 22. This especially inspired Deion Sanders, who was also a former NFL SB champion who had voiced his interest in doing the same with his sons.

In a new YouTube episode on 2Legendary With Shedeur Sanders on October 30, the 22-year-old Buffs QB was joined by OL Justin Mayers, who called the LeBron-Bronny game a “very historical event.” Shedeur Sanders then blurted out his father’s thoughts following the event. He said, “I think dad thought about coming back one game. He just going to be on kickoff return and just be a frontline blocker, not doing anything. Just make history. I think it kind of inspired him a little bit to put the pads back on.”

Imagine the headlines it would garner if Deion Sanders really got the chance to play with Shedeur and Shilo Sanders in a game! That would set a record in the NCAA or perhaps the NFL, depending on when they play together. Coach Prime may be 57- years -old but he’s not called Prime Time for no reason.

A natural athlete, Deion Sanders thrived in several sports when he was younger. He was an ace football and basketball player in high school, where he got the name Prime Time after scoring 37 points in a basketball game. Then he moved to the NFL and played for 14 seasons while also simultaneously playing for the MLB for nine seasons. His skills might be rusty but that’s nothing that can’t be fixed. Would he take the chance now that the Buffs are finally winning?

Deion Sanders is winning in Colorado

Let’s admit it, Deion Sanders made a difference in CU football. He arrived in Boulder to take over the nation’s worst CFB team that fell 1-11 in 2022. Critics weren’t soft on him when he fell 4-8 in his debut season and he slowly fell out of relevance. But he’s making a comeback in his second year by leading Colorado to their first postseason appearance since 2020.

Last Saturday’s game against Cincinnati sealed what many thought of as an impossible deal. With the Buffs beating the Bearcats 34-23, they improved to 6-2, which not only thrilled every Buffs fan but also fulfilled Deion Sanders’ promise to Peggy Coppom. Following this achievement, the HC said, That’s not the end goal for us. That’s the beginning. We want so much more.” Deion Sanders has been voicing his desire to be a Big 12 Championship contender this season. We’ll see what goes further down the road when the Buffs meet their remaining four opponents in the regular season.
