The bad news keeps on piling up. Pop-Tarts Bowl was massive. Not because of the back-and-forth game, but more because of the stunt QB Cam Ward pulled. While Hurricanes were continuously trailing in the first quarter, they did manage to turn the tide in the latter half of the 2nd quarter, with Cam Ward getting a massive touchdown pass. Miami was in the lead going into the 4th quarter. However, Ward decided to pull out of a winnable game which ultimately cost Miami the Bowl game win. Iowa State took home the win. However, no one would’ve imagined the tragedy that was waiting for them.

KCRG reported that the Cyclones’ marching band met with an unfortunate bus accident. The incident took place around 7 pm near Chattanooga, Tennessee. Windstar Lines, which was carrying the band, collided with another bus, causing the 12 students to suffer from bumps and bruises. This could’ve been an extremely serious casualty; however, there was no life-threatening injury reported.

The private school bus which had pulled out of nowhere left the scene before authorities showed up. Iowa State band bus has since reached Ames. All of these incidents suddenly piling up raises a lot of concerns for all the players, students, and staff involved with the programs.

Earlier today, during the New Year celebration at Bourbon St., another dangerous incident took place. A man in a white truck went on to crash into a crowd and then open fire. Police have reported the act as “intentional behavior.”

The White House and the FBI were instantly involved as multiple weapons and IEDs were discovered in the vehicle. The official FBI statement also mentioned, “Other potential IEDs were also located in the French Quarter.” This incident has caused a delay in the Sugar Bowl showdown.

Jason Williams, District Attorney of New Orleans, informed that the Bowl game is being postponed to Thursday. As the FBI continues its search around the stadium and other areas, keeping player, fan, and staff safety in mind, this is the perfect course of action.

However, 2 positive developments have also taken place. UGA has shared an update on Instagram that no staff or student was hurt in the incident. Followed by Pete Thamel sharing an update regarding the kickoff time. The Sugar Bowl kickoff will happen early on Thursday.
