World War III. That’s how Shilo and Shedeur Sanders describe the situation every time Deion Sanders and his ex-wife, Pilar, are in the same room. And that’s exactly why they are never in the same room together. But what if the duo are suddenly brought in close proximity? Well, that’s an answer Prime Time would be able to give better since he just experienced the situation firsthand, thanks to his two footballer sons trying out a sly trick..

On November 29, the divorced couple’s oldest son, Shilo Sanders uploaded a video on YouTube titled, “Home Game Finale” A Special Day with the Fam at Coloradowhere Deion Jr, the designated videographer of the Sanders clan, embarked on yet another behind-the-scenes look of the Colorado Buffaloes. You see, the day was an emotional affair for the team and more so, for its head coach—it was the Buffs’ last home game of the season (a day marked as “Senior Day”) and also for his two sons as they prepare to leap into the NFL.

But what should’ve been a touching goodbye at Folsom Field took an unexpected turn for Coach Prime, as the Sanders family dynamics unfolded live before the game against Oklahoma State. “Alright, we’re going to try to do the impossible,” said Shilo as he peered into the camera before the incident.

“My brother [Shedeur] just got my mom from the stands cause of the senior day and we didn’t know we had to walk. They’re not gonna. That’s like World War III trying to get them to walk together.” Notably, Pilar and Deion have not been on speaking terms for more than a decade now. After a messy marriage and an even messier divorce, which included a fair share of mud slinging and fierce battle over their three young children’s custody, the former couple have chosen to keep their distance.

At one point, Pilar even accused the Hall of Famer of physically abusing her and the children, leading to a $2.2 defamation lawsuit by Sanders that Pilar ultimately lost. “I made some great decisions, timely decisions, very cautionary decisions,” the coach had said, talking about his separation in 2012 in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. So, it’s understandable why Shilo would be nervous…

Picture this: The retired NFL icon walking his two sons down the field during the Senior Day ceremony. But as they reach to the other side, Pilar emerges from the crowd to give her boys a hug. So, what does the HC do? He handles it like a sport—pats his two sons on their backs, and swiftly removes himself from the confrontation. Because in Prime Time’s own words during the couple’s divorce proceedings back in 2012: “Some things are just so unbelievable, you just remove yourself from the situation.”

But don’t worry, the coach is definitely not going to take the situation to heart. From him, what’s more important and emotional is the impending goodbye that waits quietly in the shadows…

“Tough man. I can’t even explain the emotions. It was tough…It’s kind of emotional. Last time at home with several of my kids and my seniors. It’s tough. Tough on a coach who loves his kids,” the 57-year-old told ABC news. As for the game, it was an absolute shutout victory for the Buffs. 52-0 read the scoreline, in what can only be described an unbelievable moment. In the first quarter, the QB connected with Travis Hunter for an 11-yard touchdown pass, pushing Colorado ton 21-0. Then, in the third quarter, Shedeur delivered a perfectly placed pass, which helped Hunter secure the 8-yard TD, extending the lead to 35-0.

Did Deion Sanders just reveal his favorite son, leaving Shilo out in the cold?

Have an interesting take?

The QB went 34-of-41 for 438 yards with five touchdowns and one interception, setting Colorado’s single-season passing record, which had been set by Koy Detmer 28 years ago. He also earned the 2024 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. As for Shilo, he recorded four tackles and had one fumble recovery. He also ranks fourth in Colorado with 55 total tackles, despite missing some games owing to a shoulder injury.

Coming into the game, Shedeur had a 73.4% pass completion rate this season for 3,488 yards and 30 touchdowns. His 3,488 passing yards rank fifth in the country while his 30 touchdowns are tied for second, making him a No. 2 overall pick for the New York Giants as per USA Today’s latest NFL mock draft.

Having said that, there’s also another reason why Shedeur is happy. Wondering why? Well…

The favorite child is finally revealed…

Pilar was waiting with a wide smile at the end of the gridiron. She embraced the boys at the same time. But then Deion’s ex-wife showed to the camera what she was actually wearing. Beneath the leather jacket, she was wearing the No.2 jersey. Looks like the proud mom was there to cheer Shedeur. This was enough for Shilo to give a “Hey, oh no” reaction, prompting Pilar to laugh out loudly. It seems the Buffs’ safety just got a bit unlucky when it comes to being his parents’ favorite kid.

On the other hand, Deion was all about his first-born Deion Sanders Jr. aka Bucky. Already, Coach Prime is on cloud nine now that Colorado finished in a four-way tie atop the final regular season standings with Arizona State, Iowa State, and BYU. As he waited for the bowl bid and the schedule, he thought of doing something special for his firstborn.

On December 1, Sunday, Bucky turned 31-years-old. Deion Sanders thus blessed his son with a heartfelt post that read, “Happy Birthday to my favorite child! He’s the glue that holds everyone together.” So, Shilo was neither on Pilar’s list nor on Deion Sanders’ list. It’s high time the Buffs safety gets advice from his elder bro to get the secret code into Deion’s heart.
