The National Championship game is finally here. There hasn’t been a playoff like this before, with this event being compared to the NFL’s Super Bowl. The excitement surrounding this event leads fans to question if there will be a Halftime show, just like the NFL. There have been some speculations that Travis Scott might perform during the Notre Dame vs. Ohio State game. But is that happening? Let’s take a closer look.

Recently, in an Instagram post, Travis Scott was seen at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the venue for the upcoming game. The post included a short video clip of him walking around the stadium. This quickly sparked rumors, with fans wondering if the rapper would perform at the National Championship Game. Given Scott’s high profile and strong ties to the entertainment industry, his presence at the stadium wasn’t entirely surprising.

Some fans speculated that Travis Scott was simply attending as a spectator, while others questioned why he would be at an empty stadium before the game began. While it’s fun to spectate these discussions, digging a little deeper into this leads to a Reddit post, which twists the story further. Under a post, a comment shared screenshots of text conversations.

The speculations about Travis Scott performing at the halftime show could be true. A string of text messages between two individuals, with one named Marcus Hatch, who is assumed to be a part of Scott’s internal team. There was a text in which Hatch replied, “Yup, Travis at LV runway show. He will be at the game… Peep… Check the halftime performance.” Later, the news was confirmed by dropping a teaser on Travis’ Instagram in which he was seen playing a trumpet to the notes of his multi-plantinum hit FE!N.

Back in February 2019, Travis Scott joined Maroon 5 and Big Boi for a performance at the Super Bowl LIII Halftime show. Being an A-list celebrity, Travis is no stranger to such shows, which include events such as the 2018 NBA Awards and 2024 Grammy Awards. In the history of the college football playoff, the finale events have featured musical artists, including Kendrick Lamar and Imagine Dragons. With Travis taking the stage for this year’s Halftime show, the full-house of 71,000 fans will be singing-along to the hits alongwith cheering for both teams.

What’s actually happening during the Halftime show?

The CFP National Championship typically has a different approach to Halftime entertainment. Historically, the tradition was to feature college marching bands, to highlight the talent of the college. Last year, the final event had no halftime show because of the NCAA’s decision. But, considering the scale of this year’s event, there are some confirmed lineups for the pregame entertainment.

GRAMMY-nominated artist Coco Jones will perform the National Anthem, accompanied by a powerful presentation of the Nation’s Colors by a Joint Armed Forces Color Guard. The Spelman College Glee Club will perform “America the Beautiful”, with American Sign Language versions of both songs by local students Johrgia Peaches and Alexander Charlot. Additional tributes include a video salute to U.S. military personnel stationed overseas. Pregame festivities honor teachers and recognize Medal of Honor recipient Corporal Kyle Carpenter. The marching bands from Notre Dame and Ohio State will perform, and DJ Mal-Ski will energize the crowd with live percussion from Clark Atlanta University’s Drumline.
