Can Travis Hunter redefine what it means to be a two-way player in the NFL?

“Can Travis Hunter continue to play both sides of the football?” This has to be one of the biggest questions revolving around Travis Hunter. This dude is no joke. Look at Rams, Baylor, or even UCF, Hunter was ON POINT. As a CB and WR, Travis Hunter has managed to break records. Against the Rams, this guy went 13 catches with 100 yards, 1 defensive interception, and 2 touchdowns. Something that has never been done in the last 26 years. And he kept up the momentum against the Bears and the Knights. All of this kind of makes you wonder why people still think that Hunter won’t be able to play that many snaps in the NFL as well.

But it doesn’t matter cause someone in the CFB space thinks Hunter is doing phenomenal. During an exclusive interview with EssentiallySports, Ducks star Marcus Harper II makes his stand clear on Hunter and his 2-way future in the NFL. “It’s great for the sport of football. Not being able to allow limits,” Harper mentioned while talking about Hunter. We cannot agree more. If you give Hunter the space and the correct support (something that Shedeur Sanders perfectly does with his throws or passes), this Buffs superstar can set that turf on fire.

See how he bounced back after his shoulder injury? Against Kansas State, Hunter was out early on and barely managed to go past 25 receptions. He did make it clear on Outta Pocket that he is coming back to take back his crown. However, he ended up reaggravating his injury during the Arizona showdown and was sidelined again.

But it does not matter. When the Buffs fought it off against the Bearcats, Hunter showed what he was made of. My guy locked in with 9 catches and covered 153 yards and if that wasn’t enough, he also managed to sneak in 2 touchdowns for the Buffs. This proves that Hunter has what it takes to be the 2-way star in the NFL. Yes, it won’t be easy but it is also true that this guy loves challenges.

He is Deion Sanders‘ golden child and back on October 24th, he even managed to snag the first-ever 2-team position on the AP Midseason All-American team. “I’m making records, not chasing them,” Hunter had mentioned, and he was da-n right. We all know that he ain’t gonna give up on that 2-way NFL deal, but what would seal that fate is if he manages to snag the Heisman for this year as well.

HE12MAN?

So, hear us out. The Heisman trophy is something that QBs have continuously dominated. Right now, if you check the stats, Dillion Gabriel and Cam Ward stand on top in terms of Heisman odds. But here is one guy who is sitting at the 3rd spot right now: Hunter, with a +330 odd.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Travis Hunter redefine what it means to be a two-way player in the NFL?

Have an interesting take?

Listen, yes, indeed, what Gabriel and Ward have managed to get done for the Ducks and the Hurricanes is something no one can replicate, but you also gotta keep in mind that Hunter is in this race while playing multiple snaps on that turf. No QB would be able to last that long in a game playing both sides of the football.

We cannot wait to see what this guy does after the Buffs come off the by-week. Coach Prime and Co. are already in for the Bowl games, and with the 6-2 record, they have even managed to crack the AP polls for Week 9. Now, with the Texas Tech game on the horizon, if Hunter manages to get the same thing he did against the Bearcats, then it is safe to say that this guy deserves the Heisman.
