It has been a tough few weeks for Shilo Sanders with the NFL draft looming. He was left out of the NFL Combine invite, which hurt his diminishing draft stock further, and then it emerged that he had missed payments on his 2023 Mercedes-Benz and may lose the car. So what does Shilo do? He decided to turn up at Colorado’s ‘We Ain’t Hard 2 Find’ Pro Day showcase. The 25-year-old decided to undergo a series of evaluations in front of NFL scouts, hoping to impress them before the draft, but that might not have been his only motivation. Shilo was in to receive a car from his father if he completed his challenge.

Ahead of the Pro Day, Deion Sanders wanted Shilo to improve his speed and laid out a clear objective. A brand new car awaited him if he clocked in at 4.4 on his 40-yard dash. That number was a lenient figure, considering Deion himself ran a stellar 4.27. But Shilo might have to wait a little longer for his car, as he fell short of nearly 1/10 of a second. He clocked in 4.52 on his first attempt, while he clocked 4.59 on his second.

After missing out on the NFL Combine, Shilo is doing everything in his power to bump up his draft stock, even hiring an outside analytics company to track his 40-yard dash time. But on this occasion, he fell short of his father’s mark for him. Or did he? On social media, many people disputed the time Shilo was clocked during the event, and he also found support from his mother, Pilar Sanders.

She shared a video of her cheering for her son, with a sticker reading ‘New Car’ highlighted boldly on her Instagram story. Also accompanying it was a video of Shilo’s dash, with the caption, “Shilo running his 40. Many people got Shilo at 4.45!!” The video also carried a caption, “Scouts at Colorado’s Pro Day had 4.45 for Shilo’s 40 yard dash.” Well, it looks like Shilo has a case. Moreover, Coach Prime never specified it had to be exactly 4.4 seconds.

Later, Pilar also uploaded the same video on her profile with the caption that included a hashtag ‘Get Your Car’, and ‘Go Shilo’ as the headline. Clearly, for Pilar, Shilo has come through the challenge and deserves his car, but what does Coach Prime think?

Deion is happy about Shilo’s record. “My dawg ran a 4.52,” he said with passion. “If he ran a 4.4, he’s gonna get a car. He ran a 4.52. Not getting the car, but I’m proud of him,” Deion said. When asked what he was getting instead, Coach Prime said jokingly, “A hug.” However, it seems Pilar wants her son to get a new set of wheels, and the timing might just be right.

What’s your perspective on:

Should Shilo get the car for effort, or are Deion's rules fair and square?

Have an interesting take?

Mercedes-Benz Financial Services filed a court motion Tuesday stating that Shilo defaulted on his car payments for a Mercedes purchased in May 2023. He reportedly missed payments from December to February, owing $6,877. As a result, the company is seeking court approval to repossess the vehicle. However, Deion Sanders dismissed these claims and assured reporters that Shilo will be driving the car he already has.

“I know some other bull junk came out [this week],” coach Sanders said. “But he fulfilled all his financial obligations.” Meanwhile, Pilar continues to show her support for her sons and was once again on hand to root for them.

Pilar Sanders is emotional to see Shilo and Shedeur all grown up

For the Sanders brothers, the Pro Day was a family affair. As the brothers did their best to put on a great show for the scouts, support from their mother continued to come. Pilar Sanders dropped in at the campus to root for her sons and took to social media to show her love. In the video, she stopped by the ‘We Ain’t Hard 2 Find’ showcase wall.

There, she took a moment to cheer for her sons. Pilar said in the video, “You guys, I absolutely love this… My babies!” With their father rooting for them on the ground and their mother by their side, we know that the brothers are deeply loved.

That support found some good material to bounce off of as well because Shedeur did not disappoint. He displayed his usual Shedeur magic, making accurate throws, and that too on deep balls. Shedeur was recorded to complete 58 of 63 passes. It seems like he had a great time. “I think I did pretty good to my expectations. I know I did the best, I would say, in college football right now, for sure.” Hopefully, his results will play out in the draft, as he is in talks with the Cleveland Browns and the No. 1 pick, the Tennessee Titans.

Shedeur will easily be one of the biggest mystery prospects in this draft. However, he doesn’t have it as easy as fellow teammate Travis Hunter. Naturally, Shedeur knows he has to work for the job he wants. Coach Prime said about the younger Sanders, “Shedeur has been doing it year after year.” He also added that “the surest bets in the draft” were going to be Shedeur and Hunter. Like we said before, football is so much more than just a sport for the Sanders family. And both mom and dad know how worthy each of the brothers is for it.
