Alabama Crimson Tide didn’t just land a linebacker. They snagged Nikhai Hill-Green from the Colorado Buffaloes—and trust me, the love is mutual. Hill-Green isn’t just joining a team; he’s reuniting with some old friends, including Alabama’s general manager Courtney Morgan and defensive coordinator Kane Wommack. So, it’s no surprise that the linebacker’s already shouting out his new squad on social media. When you’ve got that kind of chemistry, it’s not just business—it’s family.

The 4-star player was spotted relaxing with his girlfriend, where he subtly (or not so) flaunted his new team’s crimson merch to the netizens. Nikhai-Hill Green took to Instagram Stories to share glimpses from his lunch session with his girlfriend, Georgia Meyers.

In the picture, Georgia is wearing a white cap and a black hoodie, while Hill-Green is sitting with a plateful of salad and flaunting the capital cursive “A” of the Alabama Crimson Tide. The player backed up his story with Sondae’s ‘Deeper’, a song about Jesus and love. Talk about healthy food, good relationships, and nice weather!

Hill-Green began his college career at Michigan and joined the Buffaloes on April 27, 2024, after taking a transfer from Charlotte. He marked his entry into the transfer portal on December 16, 2024, and committed to Alabama on December 21.

The linebacker’s entry into the transfer portal, however, shocked everyone. An interview with SI lent some clarity to this matter when he revealed the backstory behind his decision. He met Courtney Morgan, Alabama general manager in Michigan, in 2021. And ever since, they have been in touch. She showcased Alabama’s football operations, which highly flattered the senior linebacker. You see, him jumping ship could sort of be justified, considering he said Crimson Tide’s “attention to detail” mesmerized him. “Everyone hold each other accountable really impressed me.”

Nikhai Hill-Green’s jump from Colorado Buffaloes to Alabama Crimson Tide

In his 4-year career so far, Hill-Green’s performance peaked for the Buffaloes in 2024. With a 6-ft, 104 kg frame, the linebacker scored a total tackle of 82 for the Buffaloes. He single-handedly tackled 53 times and assisted in another 29 tackles. He stopped 4 passes and sacked the opponents twice. His average interception yards also amount to 11.5 – very impressive for a senior. With such a dominating presence as a linebacker, Hill-Green contributed immensely to the winning list of the Buffaloes, making him the Second Team All-Big 12 at Colorado.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Hill-Green the missing piece Alabama needs to dominate the upcoming season?

Have an interesting take?

The senior linebacker’s entry into the Alabama is good news for the team. The star player would reinforce the team’s defense as the Crimson Tides might lose both its existing linebackers, Jihaad Campbell and Deontae Lawson, to NFL Drafts.

Hill-Green is thus expected to be a key player for Crimson Tide’s defense in 2025, and a major boost for the team’s linebacking core. Alabama DC Kane Wommack said “I think him and his experience would be critical for us moving forward,” referring to Hill-Green. We’re all thrilled to see the Alabama powerhouse back in action soon following the impressive football skills as a linebacker for the Buffaloes.
