Jared Curtis is someone who has been on the radar of almost every college in the country that takes its football seriously. The hype around Curtis is so great that he has, even when he is decommitted, a NIL value of almost $3 Million on On3. That speaks volumes about the player’s abilities and the scarcity of good quarterbacks in the country. However, this time it seems the player has locked on his potential destinations and will likely be visiting them in the near future.
As we all know Curtis is the number 1 QB in the country in the 2026 class. Standing at 6 foot 3.5 inches tall and weighing around 225 lbs he is a native of Nashville, Tennessee. But do you know that he was previously committed to the Bulldogs when he announced the verbal commitment in March last year? However, his commitment was short-lived as he decommitted in October in a want to explore his options. Now, he has narrowed down his destinations to only two major colleges. So, which are those colleges?

Those colleges are Georgia Bulldogs and the Oregon Ducks. According to recent reports by Hayes Fawcett, the top QB will now only be visiting Georgia and Oregon. So, what does that mean for his upcoming visits scheduled for Auburn and South Carolina? Well, it is looking like the player will not be making those visits now as he also made it clear with his recent statements given to ON3.
“Since I decommitted my relationship has got better and better and I can’t wait to go up there for my official visit… I like Oregon a lot“. Incidentally, the player is being pursued by Dan Lanning and their offensive coordinator quite aggressively. Curtis also added, “Me and Coach Stein’s relationship is really good… I think they showcased their talents this year and showed teams what they can be. They just go out and fight“. These statements mean only one thing that QB is going to Oregon. But, what about Georgia? Where do they come into the equation?

Well, it may seem at first glance that the relationship between Georgia and the player may have soured since his decommitment. But, the actual thing is that Kerby Smart and Georgia’s OC Mike Bobo are also leaving no stone unturned in getting the final commitment from the player. They have remained in touch with the player for some time now. And their QB coach Montgomery VanGorder regularly talks up the player. Furthermore, the close proximity between the player’s home and Georgia also is a factor that can influence his decision. Be that as it may, it seems Georgia fans are not at all convinced and looking for more from Kerby Smart. Here’s why.
The mood of the Dawg Nation concerning the news
After Hayes Fawcett posted the story on his Instagram account. There have been quite numerous reactions to the news from both Oregon and Dawgs fans. But, it seems Dawg Nation has lost all hope with Kirby Smart to recruit Jared Curtis. One user wrote, “As a Georgia fan I think it’s Oregon unfortunately, Kirby is just not willing to spend that much on a QB even if they are this good“. The fan’s comment is quite apt because Kirby Smart is one of the thriftiest NIL spenders in college football. Another user wrote.

“As a GA fan, it’s Oregon because of NIL and UGA is horrible at keeping an elite QB“. To get context on this statement, look no further than Carson Beck’s transfer to Miami. That still hurts UGA till now. A fan on the other hand urged Kirby Smart to splash some cash on the player. “Pay that man Kirby“. However, paying the player will be easier said than done. Since he is the no.1 QB in college football, and with the $20 Million cap looming on coaches’ heads it will be quite difficult. Another user remarked, “Georgia lost every elite QB on things like this – Caleb, Trevor, etc“. The verdict?
It seems that the mood around Dawg Nation is not quite positive for signing Jared Curtis. But, who knows if Kirby Smart will pull off a Hail Mary at the very last minute?
