Curt Cignetti is making headlines every single week since the college football 2024 season started. 9-0, the record speaks for itself! In the recently announced rankings, the Hoosiers made it to the top 10. Hold on! But where do they stand in the top 10 is the big question. On Tuesday night, college football playoff rankings were released but it was shocking to see the Hossiers in the #8 spot. What was more shocking were the rankings of Ohio State and they have generated considerable discussions. Oregon is ruling the table with a 9-0 record and they deserve that place. But Buckeyes are ranked second with 7-1. Isn’t it surprising? Are they playing games with the new head coach, Curt Cignetti? A college football insider thinks the same.

Does the ranking affect the Indiana football team or are they okay with it? Many might believe that being ranked #8 is a dream come true for Indiana and the coach, Curt Cignetto himself, knows that these rankings are important at the end of the season. But the insider is angry with rankings and he is guessing that Indiana fans might be pi****. “Indiana fans have every right to be pi**** because Indiana should be ranked ahead of Ohio State and ahead of Texas. Indiana’s undefeated and you could say, well, they haven’t beaten anyone.” We can understand his frustration. However, if we look at Texas’s record, they are standing at 7-1 and still ranked ahead of Indiana. Why so?

Moving on, the insider discussed the performances of Indiana and Ohio State against their common opponents: “But, if you go common opponents for Ohio State and Indiana, Indiana beat Nebraska by a million and Michigan State by a million. Ohio State did kill Michigan State, but Ohio State struggled with Nebraska.” He has made a valid point, though. Indiana dominated Nebraska since they stepped in on the field. They played some impressive games on both sides throughout the game and kept their momentum 56-7. On the other hand, Ohio State did struggle against Nebraska and scored 21-17.

Not only against Nebraska and the Michigan State, Hoosiers have played well against all of their opponents by not only showing their offensive strength but also demonstrating a solid defense, allowing them to maintain control throughout their games. Does the ranking matter to you? Let’s see what the head coach has to say about the rankings.

Curt Cignetti’s remarks on CFP bracket

“Google Me” coach is winning hearts this season. Isn’t he your favorite? He has been making bold statements since he joined Indiana. “It’s pretty simple. I win,” he said in his first conference after he was announced the head coach. And yes, he meant what he said. He has made history by guiding the Hoosiers to their first 9-0 start since 1967.

On Tuesday, Cignetti appeared on the Pat McAfree Show and shared his thoughts on their rankings. McAfree humorously remarked that being in the top 10 is a big thing, and the Hoosiers have achieved everything this season. However, Cignetti very well knows that there is much to accomplish. “Oh yeah, thanks, Pat. I mean, that’s the thing that we’re trying to guard against right there.”

Further, he clarified how they are going to do their business and not allow the noise to affect them. “That’s the message I had to send to the team after practice yesterday. But yeah. I mean, you know, I’m aware of what happened, but you know, we got to focus in on the preparation process, eliminate the noise and the clutter, because the bottom line is, doesn’t matter where you are today. It’s the end of the season, and you got to win.”

He also mentioned that all the teams need to win and the only thing you can control is your preparations. How inspiring is that? Moving forward in the season, they are going to host the defending champion. Will they improve to 10-0? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
