Can Travis Hunter break the quarterback Heisman streak with his dual-threat dominance this season?

“HE12MAN”. Travis Hunter has been on a roll and no one in the current season is close to being as good as he is. Chad Ochocinco Johnson had brought up a solid point back on October 9th. “There are so many different factors that go into it, but with what Travis Hunter is doing, it needs to be taken into account,” Ocho had mentioned. To be able to stay on both roles seamlessly and make game-changing plays at the same time, this ain’t easy, but Travis Hunter makes it look easy.

So, the question that stands now is; when is Hunter getting the Heisman? Back on The Ryen Russillo Podcast, Ryen Russillo puts up a solid argument as to why Hunter deserves the award more than anyone else. “By the Heisman’s definition—awarded to the most outstanding player—why aren’t we discussing Travis Hunter more seriously?….. Hunter is playing both ways at an elite level. He’s not doing offense as a gimmick; he’s a legitimate threat on both sides of the ball,” Russillo mentioned.

After the Huskers’ thrashing, there has not been a single game where Hunter has disappointed. During Rocky Mountain Showdown, on the defense, Hunter managed to intercept a pass from the Rams QB and ran that ball up by 30+ yards. That ain’t all, with the stats he padded during that game (13 catches, 2 TDs, 100 yards, and 1 interception) Hunter managed to break a 26-year-old record.

Following this came the Baylor game, and boy, oh boy, did Hunter show us how capable he was. Back in overtime, Baylor almost got the W, but Hunter and his fumble helped the Buffs secure the win. The hype train never stopped and when it arrived at UCF station, the Knights witnessed what kind of monster Hunter was. This guy did the same thing with the Knights QB, which he had done with the Rams QB. Effortlessly intercepted a pass and ran it back up. And how could we forget that iconic celebration? Landed a touchdown and hit the Heisman pose. That’s Travis Hunter for you.

All in all, you gotta keep in mind that the Heisman has always been a QB-dominated category. Since the 2000s, 20 quarterbacks, three running backs, and one wide receiver have managed to grab the Heisman award. With what Hunter is getting done this year, he is sure to get an easy ticket to New York. However, there is still one big hurdle.

Can Travis Hunter pull the same magic against Kansas State?

Right now, the Buffs are in second place in the Big 12. This is a rank that Deion Sanders ain’t gonna let go of that easily. Back on October 9th, during a pre-game press conference, Coach Prime made it very clear that Shedeur Sanders, Travis Hunter, and the rest of the boys have to lock in. The Buffs have won 3 big games, so it’s easy for success to get into their heads.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Travis Hunter break the quarterback Heisman streak with his dual-threat dominance this season?

Have an interesting take?

“You learn a lot from successes. You don’t just learn from when you’re getting your bu-t kicked,” Deion Sanders had mentioned. With each game, we have seen Shedeur improve in terms of pocket presence and overall pressure. Hunter has also done the same.

Now the question is how well all of this will translate during the Wildcats game. Coach Prime will have access to Shilo Sanders this time, and this makes the entire defensive line even stronger. If Hunter pulls the same tricks that he managed to get done during the last 3 games, then there is probably nothing stopping him from grabbing the Heisman.
