Did NDSU's defense even show up, or did Travis Hunter just make them look that bad?

Travis Hunter just set the difference between an FCS and FBS program! Colorado may have entered their season opener against North Dakota State as a favorite to win. However there had been doubts because NDSU isn’t just an FCS program. They’re a powerhouse with 17 national titles and they showed their power at the start of the game.

A few plays into the game, the Bisons drew the first blood with Griffin Crosa kicking a 36-yard field goal to lead with 3 points. But the Buffs still held on to their abilities and it came about three minutes later with Travis Hunter displaying why he’s hyped as one of the best college football players. His antics stole the attention of an ESPN analyst who put forward an interesting view.

Travis Hunter scored Colorado’s first-season touchdown with a 41-yard pass from Shedeur Sanders. This led to strong comments against NDSU’s defense with an X post on August 29 stating ESPN’s Roddy Jones’ comment. He said, “That’s the difference between FCS ball and FBS ball you can take that angle at the FCS level. At the FBS level, it ends up with him in the end zone.”

The Buffs two-way star outraced a Bisons defender with breakneck speed finding the end zone for a TD. This put Colorado in the lead at 7 against NDSU’s 3 with 9:31 remaining in the first quarter. Will Shedeur and Travis be able to hold this impressive play for the remainder of the game?

Shedeur showcased his ability in the first drive of the season, completing four pass attempts for 60 yards and a touchdown. After all, what less can you expect from a player who’s predicted to be one of next year’s top QBs in the NFL draft as well as a potential Heisman Trophy winner. Travis Hunter is also coming in this season after a remarkable record last season playing on both sides of the ball.

If this successful trend and chemistry continue, the game is looking bright for Colorado. Every player is doing well in their positions, which is a plus point for the Buffs with extraordinary talents like Hunter and Sanders. Hopefully, the changes that Deion Sanders made to the Buffs O-line this offseason will go a long way in keeping the QB safe from injuries. The first quarter is nothing less than hopeful, but anything could happen as the two worthy opponents dive deeper into the remaining quarters. Stay tuned.
