Travis Hunter, the name on everyone’s lips. Best player in college football? Check. Heisman favorite? Absolutely. Top NFL draft pick next year? No doubt. But Hunter isn’t content with all the glory. He’s dragging his quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, along for the ride.
This dynamic duo lit up the field against Cincinnati on Saturday. Sanders connected with Hunter for multiple touchdowns, leading the Buffs to a 34-23 victory. Coach Prime himself declared, “Travis is the best football player in the country.” And even Shedeur couldn’t resist hyping up his teammate, showering him with praise. But while Hunter seems to be promoting his friend, Shedeur, there’s a bit of a contrast. He appears to be giving Ashton Jeanty the cold shoulder. Well, the two-way star seems to have a strange mix of selflessness and perhaps a bit of ego.
With the strong headline, “Enough about me,” Travis Hunter posted a picture of Shedure Sanders along with his stats on his X account on October 29. He also added, “Why are we not talking about @ShedeurSanders?” It makes perfect sense. Correct? Shedeur grabbed 220 of 300 passes for 2591 yards and 21 touchdowns in 8 games. However, the reason no one talks about him is because his father coaches the same team he plays for.

As you may remember, Deion Sanders said in an interview that Shedeur’s absence from the Heisman discourse was “simply funny” adding, “Oh, my bad, he’s my son, that’s why.” Despite all this, his son, Shedeur, seems to be a huge Hunter supporter. The Buffs QB posted on X on October 28th, saying, “Give @TravisHunterJr the Heisman.” Pretty humble, right?

Even though Shedeur Sanders has similar stats, he’s fully behind his friend Travis. This shows his loyalty to his team and his friend, as he didn’t even take a break to relax. He even used Hunter’s name when the media inquired about his Heisman run. It appears as though Hunter’s audacious statement for Shedeur is a response to Shedeur’s humble tweet. However, the two-way standout had different feelings about the junior running back from Boise State. They continue to compete with each other.
What’s your perspective on:
Does Shedeur Sanders deserve more recognition, or is his father's shadow too large?

Travis Hunter vs Ashton Jeanty
Four days have passed since ESPN released a poll asking viewers to cast their votes for the Hunter vs. Ashton Jeanty contest. Well, these two athletes were the most discussed throughout this year’s Heisman talks. Even the poll’s results were unexpected, showing that Jeanty received 57% of the vote while Hunter received only 26%. This poll’s outcome speaks for itself regarding Jeanty’s dominating popularity and Hunter’s waning collegiate football glory because of injuries.

In contrast to the current poll’s overall scenario, the Colorado Buffs star seemed candid when he spoke on Outta Pocket with RGIII. “I know I can win it. I don’t know who is there. Y’all see Ashton Jeanty, but it’s not like we haven’t seen a running back; that’s good,” Travis said. But in response, Ashton seemed classy, and he stated, “I mean, kudos to Travis; he’s ballin’ for real. He doing some stuff we ain’t never nobody do. Personally I don’t take no offense to it. He just speaking his opinion. Everybody got an opinion.”
At this point, the rivalry seems to have evolved into a sophisticated one. But the ‘HEISMAN’ winner title will only go to one person. Let’s see who takes the crown at the end of this season.
