“HISTORY MADE! Dylan Raiola just set the record for most passing yards in a season by a freshman QB at Nebraska,” Garuda Glide wrote on X as the Huskers mounted a spectacular Bowl win against Boston College after their season debunked the expectations. Yes, Raiola, 19, remains the honeybee. After a lot of going and back and forth in a lacklustre season, the freshman QB rose from the ashes like a phoenix and finished his undone season as the post-season hero. You might have felt it hard to calm yourself down watching the prodigy scoring an eye-soothing touchdown.
But just be honest, wasn’t it even harder to control your ‘awe’, when Tayler Raiola, the big sister, rushed to the field and embraced her brother in a post-victory celebration?
Sometimes, the family took over the run-of-the-mill sports, and it couldn’t come at a better time. Nebraska held on for a 20-15 victory after a late surge from the Eagles, with Raiola finishing the game by completing 22 of 30 passing attempts for 234 yards and one touchdown. Raiola has been the ultimate man of the hour for the program’s current roster, and the holistic development of the Huskers still hinges on his development. After some slips in between the seasons, critics threw him off the Patrick Mahomes’ successor list. But Raiola took zero chills and let the world know why he was the next Mahomes in the house.

It’s not a joke for a true freshman quarterback to smash the most passing yards record and stun the world, especially in one of the toughest conferences in college football, but Dylan Raiola did it and claimed the glory in style.
After clinching the win, Raiola rushed back to the fans by himself, cheering them up, which many viewed as a little over the top and as an excuse to indulge in their haters’ instinct, but Nebraska is too smart to answer it. He would rather give it to his future.

Joining Nebraska was a natural transition for Raiola as he has a deep family tie with the program, but staying with the Huskers is his conscious choice. He wants to grow with the program and did his first part leading the game to their first bowl win in eight years. It’s only the beginning of a high-flying equation between Raiola and Nebraska.
So, joining the portal was nothing but a myth. Raiola said it’s ‘unfortunate’ that he had to reassure several times that he was sticking with the Huskers as QB, but rumors were ‘out of my control,‘” Sam McKewon of the Omaha World-Herald wrote on his X handle, quoting Raiola.
Matt Rhule also put a lot of effort into keeping Raiola happy and content. from appointing new WR coach Daikiel Shorts to keep his eyes on Raiola’s favorite Dane Key. the list goes long.
