The four-star cornerback’s SEC recruitment has been a real game of inches, with another big play just unfolding. The Sprayberry High School star planned to announce his decision on his birthday, but then he called an audible, leaving everyone hanging. Now, the wait’s over, and he’s narrowed it down to 5 powerhouses: Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida. With 43 offers, his recruitment’s been a full-court press, where Kirby Smart‘s Georgia and Kalen DeBoer‘s Bama looked like the clear favorites, each getting three visits. But just when it looked like a done deal, a major twist changed everything. His latest move has three SEC coaches on high alert. So, this competition just got serious, and it’s anyone’s guess who’ll cross the finish line first.
The 4-star CB prospect is none other than Jorden Edmonds. And his recruitment just hit another gear. On3’s Chad Simmons dropped a major update, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. At 6’2.5″ and 175 pounds, Edmonds is a defensive weapon built to dominate. And his rare mix of agility, length, and versatility makes him a nightmare for offenses. He shined at the Navy All-American Bowl and stole the show at the Under Armour Combine, earning Alpha Dog honors. And given that, Georgia’s Kirby Smart and Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer were already locked in a heated battle. But now, Brent Venables has thrown his hat in the ring, so the race for Edmonds just turned into an all-out war.
Well, On3’s latest update confirmed that Oklahoma hosted the elite CB for the second time this weekend—and he’s already planning a return. That means the Sooners are closing in on the same number of visits as Georgia and Alabama. As of now, 3 powerhouse programs, 3 elite coaches, and 1 game-changing decision. But in the end, the school that checks every box will land him. And for Edmonds, this isn’t just about picking a team—it’s about shaping his future.

Look, Jorden Edmonds is the kind of athlete every coach dreams of landing. With a basketball background and NFL bloodlines, his athleticism is off the charts. He has the skills to play wide receiver, but his ceiling is sky-high as a lockdown corner. On top of that, ranked No. 5 CB in the 2026 class and No. 4 recruit in Georgia, he’s one of the most coveted prospects in the country. That’s why SEC powerhouses have rolled out the red carpet, each hosting him multiple times. But at one point, he was on the verge of committing to Kalen DeBoer, then Georgia refused to back down, fighting tooth and nail to keep him home.
Now, while Edmonds’ recruitment is turning into a heavyweight showdown, an insider from 247Sports spilled the latest scoop, stating, “He was super close to picking the Crimson Tide, recently decided to put the pause button on his process. Georgia doing all they can to keep him home. But I would still give a slight edge to the Crimson Tide.” That says it all—Alabama is leading, but the race will continue. Meanwhile, Brent Venables is now making a serious push, hoping to build his 2026 dynasty with Edmonds as the anchor.
Here, his NFL bloodline is only adding fuel to the fire. Well, before slogging through several NFL seasons, Jorden’s father, Chris Edmonds, established himself as an All-Conference LB. But despite the fierce competition among three SEC coaches, Kalen DeBoer still holds the upper hand.

Alabama’s pursuit of Jorden Edmonds
Alabama’s 2026 class already has one cornerback locked in—Zyan Gibson, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound four-star from Gadsden. But Gibson and Jorden Edmonds are built differently. Edmonds brings a unique skill set to the table. He’s not just about speed and agility—he’s a physical enforcer at the line of scrimmage. With his length and strength, he disrupts small, jittery receivers before they can even get into their routes. And if Alabama lands him, they won’t just have another cornerback—they’ll have a true game-changer in their secondary.

Despite his size, he moves with surprising fluidity, covering ground and disrupting passes with his long reach. He’s the kind of corner Bama thrives on—just look at Dijon Lee, the 5-star talent they landed in the 2025 class. And Edmonds grew up watching the Tide, always respecting the program and the elite DBs it produces. Now, he has the chance to follow in their footsteps and Edmonds knows exactly what that looks like. “I always wanted the offer. It’s a great opportunity to even be able to play there,” said Jorden.
Safe to say, the Tide would love to capitalize on this opportunity, and they’re going all in. Edmonds has built strong connections with head coach Kalen DeBoer, Maurice Linguist, general manager Courtney Morgan, and so on. Each of them has played a role in creating what Edmonds calls a true ‘home feel’ in Tuscaloosa. Honestly, it’s more than just a pitch—it’s a vision for his future, and Alabama is making sure he knows he belongs.

“I’m a top priority. Every time I come up there, every time they even come up here, they just stress (that) I’m a top priority for them and they want me to come up there,” said Jorden. But landing him won’t be easy for DeBoer, as Smart and Venables have a strong impact on the elite CB prospect. The chase for Edmonds continues….
