The 2024 regular college football season can be named a surprise season in all senses. For a lot of programs, the year came off an unexpected shake in their boots, and for some, it rewrote some long-eyed destiny. For Vanderbilt Commodores, the second case fits the most. They clinched bowl eligibility after a remarkable 6-6 season for the first time since 2018. They are currently gearing up to earn the first bowl victory since 2013 with their key weapon, Diego Pavia, in the center. Within just eight months of his transfer, Pavia rose to the headline, contributing to his team’s first win over Alabama since 1984. But above everything, it’s coach Clark Lea who turned the wheel for the Commodores. Not only that, he is shaping up Pavia’s individual goal as well.

The New Mexico State transfer had a breakout season, racking up a total of 600 yards on the ground along with 2,000 passing yards in the black jersey. He has thrown 16 touchdowns against just three interceptions in the year. But he passed all the credit to the coach.

”We have a really solid defensive coach [in] Lea. He runs a really good defense. Our offensive weapons are like through the roof. I mean, we got it, and our O-line is Coach K. Coach K is the truth. Our O-line coach is the truth-like hand. He was.. he was with Colin Kaepernick at Nevada. He was with Lamar Jackson at Louisville, so just having him is just awesome. I mean, he brings the fire, we’re going to be really good.” The marquee quarterback said in his recent appearance in the Zen game.

For the unversed, Lamer Jackson currently sits second in the NFL, both in terms of passing yards and touchdowns. The Baltimore Ravens QB’s high-flying stats and consistent performance made him a solid MVP frontrunner. On the other hand, Colin Kaepernick is a former NFL quarterback who last played on the gridiron back in 2016. Amidst some racial disputes, the NFL biggie was forced to hang up his boots several times. Later, he was engulfed in some high school coaching jobs.

Now, coming back to the Commodores game changer, QB Diego Pavia had an epic journey from a Judo athlete to the leading college football quarterback in 2024. You can logically hold a lot of factors accountable for the quintessential rise, but the 23-year-old credited the higher power, the supreme being for all that he achieved.

Diego Pavia bows down to the almighty for all the success

Pavia’s stats are sensational, but his approach to football and life is the best. In an interview on the ZenGame YouTube channel, Pavia was asked to be a guiding light to the youngsters who are dreaming of being rich to rag in a similar fashion. The prodigy took zero credit for his elite career and posed it upon the god. Pavia believes all we can do is stay true to our purpose and put on relentless work to reach the goal. And God will take care of the rest.

To justify it with the odds in his life, the Commodores QB revealed how his lack of clarity and lack of surrender to God’s plan cost him a direct path to Division One football after high school. Later, he developed a better relationship with God, and everything started to fall back into place.

”Just work on [your] relationship with God and he’ll guide you where you want to be. Just let him know, open your heart up to him. Just let him do his magic. It’s crazy what he can do,” the QB has a clear-cut message to the budding superstars.
