Arch Manning is looking like the perfect heir to the Texas QB throne. With current quarterback Quinn Ewers likely heading to the NFL soon, the Longhorns won’t have to worry about filling that spot. The young Manning seems more than ready to step up, and Saturday’s game just proved it.

As Texas Longhorns‘ prized 2023 recruit, Arch hadn’t gotten much playing time until now. But this weekend, he made his mark with his first career touchdown against the Colorado State Rams! In fact, Arch had great chemistry with his wide receivers and played a key role in the team’s heroic 52-0 win, with a last-minute touchdown!

Now, head coach Steve Sarkisian couldn’t hide his excitement about what the young Manning pulled off. In the post-game press conference, he said, “I fight with Arch a lot about him being a little too robotic at times because he wants to be right.” But on Saturday, Arch showed a more relaxed style that Sarkisian loves. “I want him [Arch] to play the game because he has so many cool instincts. We saw that on display today,” Sarkisian added, praising Manning’s “vision” for finding the right guys for his passes.

Well, Arch made a 39-yard connection with WR Johntay Cook, and soon a 5-yard touchdown with WR Silas Bolden. He also made a pinpoint pass to WR Ryan Wingo for a gain in the 4th quarter. Now, that’s the kind of leadership you want from a quarterback!

When Arch took over for Quinn Ewers in the third quarter, not many expected such a great performance from him. But he took Ewers’ 38-0 lead and ran with it, helping secure the 52-0 victory. Looks like he’s ready to carry the baton!

Just a few days ago, former NFL quarterback Drew Brees shared his thoughts on the young Manning before his season opener. Brees said Arch should “spend 5 years” with Steve Sarkisian’s team for his own development. While Arch seems ready for college football, he may need more time to prepare for the NFL. Brees added, “Just stay there, lock in, learn, grow, develop, become an incredible leader for that team,” and hopes Arch can “make a run at some national championship.”

Now, the ‘Manning’ name already comes with high expectations in the NFL, all due to Arch’s uncles, Peyton and Eli Manning, both Super Bowl legends. That legacy could put some pressure on the young Manning, but after his first game, he showed he could handle anything with ease.
