Is Deion Sanders' mind game with Nebraska's QB a masterstroke or just plain unsportsmanlike?

Things aren’t looking good for the Cornhuskers and their QB Dylan Raiola. Deion Sanders has the high ground now. That man has the most talented QB on his roster and a solid 2-way player. We all saw that Coach Prime and his efforts to improve Shedeur Sanders paid off during the season opener against NDSU. That guy locked in 445 yards in his first game of the year and managed to land 4 touchdowns. Shedeur is ensuring that Deion Sanders and the Buffs are redeemed this year. While some of us did see Raiola make some noise when the Cornhuskers hit the turf against the Miners, you still gotta keep in mind that this guy is still new and going up against one of the best QBs in CFB.

And this is exactly what former Lions player Desmond Howard talks about on September 7th on ESPN First Take. “I just think Shedeur needs to be Shedeur. He’s one of the top quarterbacks in football. You look at Riola, he’s a young guy, he’s a newbie,” Howard mentioned. While Raiola did dominate against the Miners, that team is still much less competitive when you compare them to the Buffs. Howard did go on to mention that he had played with Raiola’s father (Dominic Raiola) back during his days with the Lions, and Dylan has inherited some of Dominic’s skills. “I actually played with his dad, Dominic, with the Detroit Lions. His dad was the nicest, coolest guy—fantastic teammate,” Howard noted. Dylan has that “dog” in him which his father had when he hit the gridiron. However, this still won’t be enough to stand on the level that Shedeur plays on. On3 raised this very point back on September 4th. “His second start ever in college football as a true freshman—can he just play clean, okay?” On3 had noted during their show.

The main concern is can Raiola make sure that he does not give Deion’s QB the turnover? Because if Dylan fails, then it is over. We all saw how good the chemistry between Shedeur, Travis Hunter, and Jimmy Horn Jr. was. So if Cornhuskers gives them the opening, they will run the football, and there will be no catching them. Still, Cornhuskers HC Matt Rhule has one single opening he can still exploit if he wants to win.

The only thing that can save the Cornhuskers against Deion Sanders’ monster team

Matt McChesney had raised a solid point when he talked about how Deion’s o-line is still not plating on the level that Shedeur, Hunter, and Horn play on. This exposes a major flaw in the roster. We all know that the Buffs suffered last season because Deion failed to foresee the impact a weak O-line is going to have on his run. While Coach Prime did revamp the team, it looks like it ain’t enough.

“It’s set up for Nebraska to really take advantage in the middle of the field,” this was something Conner Happer noted back on August 31st. Rhule will look for a way to make sure that Coach Prime’s average O-line is exploited and the Cornhuskers slip through the gaps. This could become the “ultimate weapon” that can tame the beast, that the Buffs are. However, this is CFB, people. Anything can happen here. So, make sure y’all lock in when the Buffs hit the turf against the Cornhuskers a few hours later.
