Last season, the team Nebraska was really bad on-field, and they could win only five out of their dozen games. They were then straitened by a series of complicated losses that saw them being trounced 45-7 by Michigan and 36-14 by Colorado. Their inability to post victories in most of their fixtures and failure to clinch victories in games that mattered most was a clear testimony that the Cornhuskers had a troubled year. But the stats speak differently this time of the year for the Huskers!

The pride of Nebraska Cornhuskers is really soaring high, all compliments to the freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola. It took Nebraska eight years to climb to the first twenty – after years of indifferent football – following an all-powerful victory over Colorado. Raiola, a true freshman, has been in the middle of this change-around. 

Nebraska improved massively this season. It has recorded crucial wins and a place in the top 20. This is another world compared to their previous miseries. The Cornhuskers’ triumph over the Colorado team wasn’t just any ordinary win. It was more of a proclamation. Colorado was heavily favored in this game, especially after the performance of their quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, in Week 1. However, Raiola and the Cornhuskers’ defense had other ideas. Colorado’s stars didn’t show at all.  

This has been the turning point for Nebraska. The program is now in the process of coming out of the darkness. And Dylan Raiola? He is able to debunk the myth of him being a mere freshman in a team. Instead, he plays as a mature professional who is acutely aware of every know-how of the game.

Dylan Raiola displays maturity on-field, but can they keep the momentum?

Nebraska’s victories have brought attention to their program. With that attention, there is bound to be pressure. Can Raiola deal with the pressure coming from an inconsistent team that has not been successful for almost a decade now? Looking at the situation, only time will tell; however, if true to the performance against Colorado, then the Cornhuskers look to be in for a special season.

Raiola has a cool head, exemplary decision-making and good leadership skills that can hardly be expected from an individual of his age. As is typical with most freshmen, transitioning to college football has challenged most of them, but not Raiola. His football has matured for his age, and his confidence on the pitch is an instigate to other players.

Under the guidance of Raiola, Nebraska has entered the top twenty, but can it go further up? The Cornhuskers have depth on the offense as well as on the defense and if they are to leverage on the victory they recorded against Colorado, then they have all the potential to go all the way this season. This will simply be done and done effectively. The key here will be to maintain consistency. One big win is good, but that team truly looks like a big winner when they put several wins together and learn how to handle the fame that comes with winning big.
