Now that the 2024 college football season is all set to drop the curtains, media pundits have already shifted their focus to the next season. Looks like Nebraska Cornhuskers fans are facing a double-edged sword. Well, they would definitely want to move ahead after finding out how their quarterback Dylan Raiola failed to live up to the Patrick Mahomes image he portrayed of himself. But at the same time, they also know what the 2025 season has in store for them. The Cornhuskers fans are fearing that the transfer portal might snatch away Raiola from them. But looks like there is not much for the fans to worry about losing their quarterback. At least, his IG story says so.   

Well, we know how protective Matt Rhule has been about Raiola. However, the year 2024 has not been his quarterback’s year. After all, as stats show, Raiola has been pressured on 32.2% of his dropbacks this season. And what about his sack numbers? He got sacked 18 TIMES! Alarming, isn’t it? But somehow, Rhule was not upset with his player. Rather, he demoted his offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield to tight ends coach. He swapped Satterfield with Dana Holgorsen to protect Raiola in a better way. But as the transfer portal has opened the gates, the fear of losing Raiola got 100x. Fans might be keeping an eye on the QB’s actions on social media. For a change, Raiola’s IG story was not about Matt Rhule’s Huskers. Now they found something that hints that the athlete is not going anywhere. 

Rhule’s quarterback shared a clip from Nebraska’s volleyball program, Omaha Supernovas. For the caption, Raiola came with a single letter, “W!” signifying win, and tagged the program in his IG story. Now it’s an occasion that must be celebrated irrespective of the sports played. After all, it’s Nebraska’s win at large. Their professional volleyball team and first Pro Volleyball Champions, in the season opener of the 2025 Pro Volleyball Federation season, came back from a set down to defeat the Atlanta Vibe, 3-2. With this win came setting another record. 

They broke their attendance record of 12,090 from last season as the attendance for the 2025 season opener was 13,486. These numbers are already enough to send any Nebraska fan to Cloud Nine. Now that Raiola has joined the celebrations too, hinting at him going nowhere, made the victory even sweeter. Does that mean, the QB listened to his fans’ requests? 

Dylan Raiola’s reassurance amidst transfer rumors 

Already things have been a bit sensitive with Raiola. He got the taste of three back-to-back defeats where the young chap threw five interceptions. On November 30, the Huskers got blown away by Iowa Hawkeyes who came off with a 13-10 loss for the Huskers. A few days later, Raiola posted a series of pictures from the game on December 3. Till that it was okay. But the caption had struck a chord with the fans.

The QB wrote, “Patience…stay on that side.” That’s when the Nebraska fans started whipping up different theories on why Raiola is looking for some more patience. Already there have been different programs that would have gladly given a place to Raiola. The first one in the line was Mario Cristobal’s Miami Hurricanes as their QB Cam Ward will be a top pick in the NFL. Besides, Ryan Day would be in dire need of a quarterback since his signal-caller Will Howard will soon run out after his fifth season. 

That’s when the Nebraska fans took control of the comment section urging Dylan Raiola not to leave the Huskers fam. Meanwhile, before any other theories came up, the quarterback broke his silence. In one of the latest press conferences, Raiola shared, “Honestly, it was unfortunate that I had to, you know, kind of reassure everyone I was here, you know.  I never officially entered and never really was shopping around. So, yeah, I don’t really have much to say other than, you know, that whole deal was kind of out of my control.” So, for now, the fans can worry a little less!
