Can Dylan Raiola be the game-changer Nebraska needs to reclaim its former football glory?

Quarterback Dylan Raiola is emerging as a very important asset for the Nebraska Cornhuskers this season. Even head coach Matt Rhule appreciated Dylan’s gameplay, saying, “good players make plays, Dylan makes plays.” With each game, he is solidifying his position as a fan favorite player who holds great promise for the team’s future prospects. Even insiders claimed the same about him.

Today in the episode of On3 Recruits, host Josh Newberg and guest Huskers lead publisher Sean Callahan joined in to discuss whether Nebraska’s young talent, like quarterback Dylan Raiola’s, wide receiver Jacory Barney Jr., and Carter Nelson’s performance, is making any early impacts on Nebraska’s recruitments or not.

Providing valuable insights on the performance of new recruits, guest Sean emphasized that QB Dylan Raiola is the key player who can significantly enhance the team’s recruitment status, saying, “So, they’ve had a great opportunity to sell what they’re going to be and show what some of these freshmen have been able to do. And obviously, Dylan Riola I mean, he sells Nebraska right now as well as anybody.” Even host Josh agreed to Newberg, saying, “Yeah, no doubt. He is a walking billboard for Nebraska recruiting right now.” Well, Dylan Raiola is the second-highest-rated prospect of the 2024 season to ever sign with Nebraska. Last year, Nebraska had a high turnover rate and struggled with poor offensive play. However, this year there is improved depth on the perimeter thanks to Raiola leading the offense.

Nebraska’s strong offense was quite visible in their game against the Colorado Buffs. Dylan Raiola led Nebraska to an early lead, passing for 185 yards and scoring a touchdown, ultimately resulting in a 28-10 victory over Colorado. As a true freshman, Dylan is off to a great start. Matt Rhule thinks Dylan is a benchmark for his team’s other offensive players, as in an interview he said, “He is at a whole other level; those other guys better pick it up.” If this isn’t going to serve as a walking billboard for the Huskers, then what will?

Sean also mentioned Huskers kickoff timing being an advantage for the team in getting more students to watch their game, saying, “They were blessed to have the three night games in a row, which makes it easy. And then even this weekend, they’re going to get a three o’clock kick, so anybody within a good driving distance can make a kickoff, or they could fly in and have time to make the game.” Well, that’s true; evening time does wonders for the team, as there is a massive crowd in the stadium. In the upcoming week, the Huskers will go up against Rutgers. Let’s see how their performance in the previous game could potentially contribute to their victory next week.
