It’s a good Saturday morning, and as a Buckeyes fan, you getting ready to watch Ryan Day finally end this OSU losing streak to Michigan. What can the Wolverines even do? They have a walk-on quarterback, their offense is all over the place, and Conner Stallions ain’t here anymore. Easy win, right? Yeah, that 13-10 with that many missed field goals tells a different story. Not only did Ryan Day lose to Michigan once again, but they lost to one that has 5 losses this season and is pretty much a hollow shell of its former self. This one stings, but you can’t do anything about it. The good thing is though, OSU didn’t get dropped too low on the CFP rankings. They are in the 6th spot right now, but there is a strong debate, which is kind of valid.
No, it’s not about OSU being ranked “too high”. It’s about OSU being ranked lower than Penn State. Controversial or not, but Rece Davis has a somewhat valid point, which some OSU fans will agree with. “Um, you know, Penn State, you know, were to not look that competitive or as competitive. They’ll be competitive but not look as competitive as Ohio State did,” Davis pointed out. See, when we talk about the Nittany Lions and James Franklin, they’ve done a lot this season. Went on a massive 11-1 run and almost won all games with an average of 20+ points from the offense.

The only time they took a hit was against OSU. It was one of those classic Franklin chokes that every Penn State fan is used to at this point. However, it is alright. Unlike the Buckeyes, the Nittany Lions managed to crack into the conference title game against Oregon.
If they manage to win against the Ducks (wishful thinking), they will easily get the top seed on the playoff list. Now what Rece pointed out is kind of valid, but at the same time, you cannot just say that OSU is better than the Nittany Lions.
Yeah, the Buckeyes offense and defense have a far better depth, but they choked a game on their home turf to a rival who has been walking over them for the past three meets. What will seal Franklin’s credibility is a win against Dan Lanning. If, by some hook or crook, the Lions snag that B1G title game, then anyone pointing fingers at this team will shut up. But the question is, can they do it?

Analysts say a lot of things, but you just cannot ignore some important facts. David Pollack pointed out some important aspects of the Nittany Lions football that can end up tipping the scales in Franklin’s favor.
“The only place they’re (Ducks) not elite at…. offensive line. And Penn State’s biggest strength is…. their defensive line,” Pollack mentioned. First off, calling the Ducks’ O-line not elite is criminal. Yes, Lanning and Co. did face some problems on their offense, but from what we have seen in the last few games, they have improved considerably.
Currently, their offense has only allowed 12 sacks with 43 tackles for loss. This is ranked as the 5th lowest in the country. And to top it all off, you got Dillion Gabriel leading the charge. Dude is on the Heisman contender list and has pulled massive plays to save the Ducks.

But the Lions’ defense ain’t no joke, either. Ranked on the top 5 best defenses in the country, the Nittany Lions’ defense got Abdul Carter putting on a show. If Carter and Co. create enough pressure, Gabriel could end up folding and this could end up costing Lanning the game.
