Is Texas football losing its identity under Steve Sarkisian after the shocking Georgia defeat?

We all saw the kind of magic Diego Pavia had created in the game against Alabama. Now Pavia and Vanderbilt are ready to roll against Steve Sarkisian‘s boys. However, after losing to Georgia last week, No. 1 Texas is losing its identity in college football, with major analysts calling outflows in it.

Now Josh Pate also joined the crew, expressing his doubts about Steve Sarkisian’s boys. On the recent episode of ‘Josh Pate’s College Football,’ where he made some shocking revelations ahead of the Texas vs. Vanderbilt game.

“Upset alerts in week nine. How concerned should we be on a scale of one to 10 with these games? Texas is coming here. Texas is coming to Nashville, to Facebook. Texas is favored by 18 and a half. We already saw Diego Pavia’s magic in Alabama. We saw him get off to a fast start. They have a long drive, and then they pick a ball off; I think it was a pick-six, and they’re up 13.”

Pate’s concerns regarding the Longhorns come from their performance against the Bulldogs in a highly-anticipated Week 8 game. The offense was especially dreadful. “And nothing you do that against Texas. Anything could happen. Is that duplicatable? I don’t know. I will say this. I am fresh off watching Texas turn the ball over a lot against Georgia. Now, you could take that to mean it could happen again, or you could take it to mean it is a supreme focus point in Texas practice this week,” he said.

After such a poor performance, any head coach would drill the team to make things right in the next game. That’s what Steve Sarkisian must be harping on all week before they face Vandy. But is that possible?

“All I’m saying is this is typically a GET RIGHT game. Don’t be calling Vandy in 2024 a GET RIGHT game. You do that at your peril. I’m going to put a five on this. The upset concerns me. I’m going to put a five. Vandy has my attention. This game has my attention enough that I’m going to be there, and I have not gone. I have not taken the tour to a Vanderbilt game, even though it’s like five blocks down the road from us. So I’m going to put a five on the upset alert concern scale there.”

A 5 on the upset alert may not look good, but we are talking about Texas here. They were primed to be in the SEC championship game a week ago. How did the tables turn so quickly? Now, given today’s reality, Sarkisian has to take some solid steps to bounce back with this game. He especially needs to clean up the quarterback mess he created during the Georgia game between Arch Manning and Quinn Ewers.

What about Steve Sarkisian’s QB decision?

Enough had been said on this topic. Whether Sark accepts it or not, he made some stupid stuff for the game against Georgia. In the 15-30 loss to Georgia first, he went with Quinn Ewers, who completed 25 of 43 for 211 yards and an interception. After which, Steve Sarkisian decided to bench him.

Then, for the second half, Arch Manning walks in wearing a No. 16 jersey. but just like Ewers, Manning also struggled with 3 of 6 passes for 19 yards for the little time he was in the game. However, given Arch Manning’s popularity, Sark’s move to enter him late in the game is getting questioned by many analysts. Like Joel Klatt and Johnny Manziel.

And what did Sarkisian have to say after the game? “I just felt like giving Ewers a chance to step back and regroup, so we just told Quinn, Hey, we’re going to go with Arch here; give you a chance to get into the locker room. Let’s regroup and then come back out in the second half.” However, later, Ewers came back in the second half and helped his team score 15 points. Until then, it was too late for Texas.

Later, Sark confirmed on Monday that Ewers would be their starting QB. With that, the Longhorns now have to play against No. 25 ranked Vanderbilt—a team that took down a team like Alabama. moreover, the kickoff is set for this Saturday at 3:15 p.m. CT on the SEC network.
