Trouble in paradise. Gators fans were just recovering from Billy Napier‘s disaster era when another tragedy struck. The loss to Vols last Saturday not only kicks the Gators off of any chances of making the playoffs but it also strips the QB off the team. Graham Mertz is out for the entire season because of his knee injury. Napier had reported that the medical examinations stated that Graham Mertz had a torn ACL. If all of this wasn’t enough, it looks like Mertz is about to lose out on his love as well.
A few hours ago, Mertz took to his Instagram account to share a heartfelt note towards the Gators Nation. “Gator Nation, thank you for two incredible years in Gainesville. Unfortunately, I suffered a torn ACL against Tennessee… I will remain a part of the program and do whatever I can… to help my teammates win,” Mertz wrote in the caption. However, the thing we would like to point out is the absence of someone who has always been very vocal with her support for Mertz and his career.

Alexis Loomans has not made any comments regarding what she feels about Mertz’s injury. This is odd because, being his girlfriend, she was always supportive and often commented on any/all of Mertz’s social media posts. The 21-year-old model and Mertz have been together since 2022.
Her silence points a lot of fingers at the current status of their relationship. More so because recently both have unfollowed each other on Instagram and do not have any pictures of each other on their accounts. This was not the case a year back. Both used to share tons of memories and updates with their fans.
While there has been no concrete announcement regarding their separation, the entire social media pattern begs to differ. We still gotta wait for proper confirmation from either Loomans or Mertz. At this point, you gotta feel bad for the entire team. Billy Napier hammered the first nail in and Mertz and his injury marks the final nail in the coffin. What fate awaits the Gators now?

Standing on 3-3, the Gators are in a rough spot, which ain’t gonna get better anytime soon. The remainder of the schedule for the team looks like a minefield. They have to go up against the Bulldogs, then the Longhorns, and finally LSU and Ole Miss.
The only games where Napier had a chance to shine, he managed to mess up. Fans have been quite vocal regarding his firing for some time now. However, that raises a whole new question regarding the University of Florida and if they can even afford to fire Napier and pay him $26 million.
With Mertz out, DJ Lagway can grab the starting QB position. From a skill standpoint, Lagway has always been a far better option. Still, one single player cannot carry a whole team to victory. Up against the Dawgs offense and defense, the Gators do not stand a chance.

And we won’t even bring the Longhorns into this discussion because Steve Sarkisian and his star-studded roster can eat up Napier with ease. Whatever fate awaits the Gators, it is not good.
