A Buffalo usually has two horns on its head to lead its attack, but in the case of ‘Coach Prime’s’ team, it looks like a third horn might be growing out, too. While most associate the strength of the Colorado team with its two star players, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. Jimmy Horn Jr. proved that he’s just as good as them last week against the Bisons when he recorded a better-receiving average than Hunter himself.
The 5 foot 10 inch, 170 lb, WR came to Boulder in 2023 with the arrival of Coach Prime. Though he was still debuting with the Buffs, he played and started in every game during the 2023 season. The Colorado Buffaloes are on their redemption arc this season. They will rely on players like Horn Jr. to step up and play to the best of their abilities. This is exactly what he did against NDSU. Horn recorded 198 receiving yards and 1 touchdown, which proved vital for the Buffs to go on and win the game by 31-26.

While trying not to be harsh towards Travis Hunter’s talents, McElroy warned Nebraska to look out for the WR and what he can do. He said, “You might want to put a lot of attention on Travis Hunter, understandably so, don’t sleep on this guy Jimmy Horn either because he could take over the game as well and showcase the ability to do that.” Thus, this rivalry rests on a lot of heated tensions ever since things escalated between the two teams last year. Colorado will desperately require Horn’s swift feet to get them to the red zone and then, ultimately, to the touchdown glory. However, Despite a heated storyline, ‘Prime Time’ is approaching the Buffs’ Week 2 game with calm and poise. He even praised Cornhuskers’ HC Matt Rhule in a recent interview.

“This is personal”, these were the words that Shedeur Sanders issued to the press after the Buffaloes won against the Cornhuskers last year. Rhule’s comments about Deion Sanders and the team triggered a fire among the players. They did everything they could to pull off a victory by a 36-14 score. Now, it looks like those days are past the Sanders’ men since Deion couldn’t be more appreciative of the glory of Matt Rhule and everything he’s done for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Is Jimmy Horn Jr. the new star to watch, overshadowing Travis Hunter this season?

During Deion’s weekly news conference, he was asked about his thoughts on the opposing coach, and surprisingly, Coach Prime had nothing but sweet words for him. He said, “I have a ton of respect for Matt Rhule. He’s in, I call it, our class of coaches. So I root for that class of head coaches that came in that year. He was a professional, did a phenomenal job, maybe not the job that he aspired to do, but he has a ton of experience, and I love what he’s accomplished in his college coaching career.” Thus, this year’s battle of the Giants seems to be a lot more respectful than 2023, and no matter who becomes the victor, hopefully, the two coaches can take it on their chins and shake it off with the handshake of sportsmen.x
