Shedeur Sanders vs. Brock Huard: Who's got it right in this heated debate over Dylan Raiola?

Shedeur Sanders’ last season’s dreams just got crushed by a big blow it seems. If the Buffs QB thinks it to be, then he is not wrong. After all, NFL legend and ex-Seattle Seahawks QB also dropped in with a reality check for Shedeur. Things are going to be tough for Deion Sanders’ son from now onwards now that he will be competing with the best lot. However, the NFL is too far and what the QB needs to focus on as of now is to make the best of his last chapter in college. But here Shedeur falters miserably by bringing in Dylan Raiola for a ‘who had it harder’ comparison game!

The Next Round podcast had NFL star Brock Huard as its guest on September 10. And the ex-Seahawks player is still not ready to take a dip in the Shedeur craze. Instead, he comes up with a reality check for the Buffs QB. He went like, “Don’t you ever say that” and further added, “You have been built to be the No.1 pick in the draft. Don’t say things like that you just can’t.” But what made Huard say so?

Things have not been easy lately for Shedeur, who is being held responsible for his poor feat that led to the Buffs’ 28-10 loss against Matt Rhule’s Cornhuskers. However, the Buffs QB did not let these attacks affect him in any way. Instead, he shrugged off the responsibility and instead reeled in the Nebraska, QB Raiola’s name.

Shedeur tried to score points on the sympathetic ground by comparing himself to Raiola pointing out how the two QBs functioned under different pressure and protection. During the press conference, he dropped a bold question, “How many times did (Nebraska quarterback Dylan) Raiola get touched?” This was his way of avoiding accountability for pushing the Buffs toward the edge of loss. Shedeur then deflected the blame towards the newly-curated O-line. “I wasn’t protected like I needed to be. The O-line just didn’t give me the time to make plays,” claimed the Buffs QB. And where does Shedeur stand currently as far as his draft stocks are concerned?

The bigger picture does not look quite alluring for the Buffs QB. Why would it be? After all, Shedeur has to compete with big shots like Quinn Ewers, Carson Beck, and Jaxson Dart which made Huard drop a request for the CFB fans. “Ramp that way down, take that down a notch. Let’s see if you handle adversity cause you handled that awful on Saturday in Lincoln,” boldly claimed the NFL star. Shedeur already has a dark past when during the 2023 season he emerged as the most sacked player in the history of college athletes.

He still carries with himself the not-so-great record of getting sacked 52 times. While Colorado pinned their hopes on him to flip the script, things are not going to change any time soon it seems. Even though, the Buffs QB had a steady start against NSDU, against Raiola and Co. he got sacked FIVE TIMES!

This had a direct impact on the latest mock draft as well. On September 6, PFF College dropped its latest version of the mock draft. Even though the Buffs’ two-way star Travis Hunter found himself a place as the No.4 pick, Shedeur Sanders got snubbed from the list of top-10 picks. Time for Deion Sanders to pump up the tires and drive the QB toward greatness!
