The two bright stars of the Ohio State Buckeyes have been ruled out from the squad at the moment. Donovan Jackson and Cody Simon have been vital for the Buckeyes in the past 3 seasons, but it looks like Ryan Day will opt for fresher and newer boots on the ground. Ohio State is ready to play their season-opener against the Akron Zips but will do it without some of their biggest weapons, who helped pave the path for their 2023 11-2 record. Will the Buckeyes be able to create history again like they did in 2014 or will this be yet another season where they come second to an elite team like Michigan?
Ohio State standout offensive lineman Donovan Jackson is out for today’s opener, along with starting linebacker Cody Simon.

Adam Rittenberg of ESPN gave the update in a tweet that read, “Ohio State standout offensive lineman Donovan Jackson is out for today’s opener, along with starting linebacker Cody Simon.” This very well could be Day’s strategy to figure out what works best for the team since Akron isn’t one of the fiercest opponents in the league. Yet, this situation will raise eyebrows from the fans over Day’s methods and if the Buckeyes don’t cinch the win, it will lead to a lot of concerns over the coach’s capabilities.
