Imagine waiting for a chance to prove yourself and simply messing it up on your showdown. Well, it looks like DJ Uiagalelei did it before his big break. The 2024 college football season began with an upsetting performance of No.10 Florida State losing the match to Georgia Tech. With DJ’s underwhelming performance and the team’s unjustified rankings fans were very furious, calling them out to answer.

Florida State Football started the 2024 season with a surprising defeat against Georgia Tech in Dublin. Despite being everyone’s absolute favorite FSU emerged as a big disappointment. The team was the 10th seed, and after looking at today’s match even the seeding is being questioned by the whole nation. Their loss came as a sudden shock to all FSU fans, as they were hoping for a much better outcome from their match. There are several tweets against the team, questioning their rankings. Brandon Walker, a famous media personality, took to Twitter to say, “How the hell were they ranked 10? There’s nothing special about the roster and the QB is bad. We need smarter CFB voters in this country.” 

Well, nothing far from the truth the defense was very poor. QB  DJ Uiagalelei’s performance was not up to the mark resulting in impacting their chances of making it to the College Football Playoff. FSU faces a challenging path to reach their goal, as they will probably have to win every game and secure the ACC championship to qualify. The game didn’t indicate a promising season ahead for FSU. Despite being underdogs, Georgia Tech pulled off a remarkable upset by defeating an AP Top 10 opponent in their season opener, joining the ranks of just five unranked teams to achieve this feat in the past four decades, leaving fans skeptical about the rankings and teams’ alignment.

The hatred fumes for FSU

One fan replied straight away to Brandon Walker’s tweet saying “Careful, Brandon! The FSU fans, as we learned last year, can’t handle the truth.” Even Paul Finebaum’s statement says the same thing. “Every year, I kinda try to decide who has the most thin-skinned, insecure fanbase in the country, and right now, I think it is Florida State.” Another fan took a dig at Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei saying “Think DJ U just needs a change of scenery” Well replacing an elite QB like Jordan Travis is not that easy. 

Even another fan feels the same about DJU, “I’m not sure why people still think DJU is good.” they wrote, looking at his last year’s performances this was his moment to shine. One more fan expressed dissatisfaction with the ranks saying “Ranking voters and Hall of Fame voters, need to clean house.” This is quite expected as No. 10 Florida State got beaten up by unranked Georgia Tech 24-21.

Florida State had a lot of hype surrounding them for the 2024 season, as fans eagerly anticipated their showdown with Georgia Tech. Looks like reality turned into a nightmare for both FSU and its fans. Well, it’s just the beginning, let’s not lose hope.
