It’s the year of revelations, and the latest one is; The Tide unfortunately got dethroned. For any Bama, the last weekend was probably the worst of their lives. Kalen DeBoer and Co. faced quite the fight against the Dores. While this felt like a game where Kalen DeBoer could easily grab a dub, Vanderbilt turned things around too fast. Going home with their heads hanging low and a 40-35 disaster on their plate, fans first wondered how Kalen DeBoer could still stay calm.

And that is exactly what the HC is himself here to answer. On the latest press conference from the South Carolina week, DeBoer explains what is going through his head. “Oh, I mean, I’m extremely frustrated. We all are, you know um, but we are not gonna lose our cool over that,” DeBoer vowed. It’s not like there was no frustration. After the game and inside the locker room, the boys were frustrated and did dream of a better outcome. However, DeBoer’s perspective makes sense because staying stuck on the loss and not learning anything from it won’t do anyone any good.

This entire Vanderbilt game was a disaster from the start. As we had pointed out before; it felt like Bama got too comfy after the Georgia win. The defense and their presence were just not there throughout the entire game. While the offense did start picking up from the 3rd and 4th quarters, it just wasn’t enough.

Somewhere it felt like whatever former HC Nick Saban had said about Vanderbilt prior to the game, came back to bite DeBoer and his boys. Another thing that we spotted at the end of the game was Malachi Moore’s outburst.

That entire thing was completely uncalled for, and DeBoer made it clear during the post-game conference that Moore throwing away his mouth guard and throwing a tantrum on the turf was not the correct way to deal with things. “I think the key is that we turn that frustration into positives moving forward,” DeBoer had noted. While everyone has thrown shade at Bama (understandably why), we still gotta turn our eyes towards Vanderbilt.

From nothing to something

60 games against the top 5 CFB players. 60 losses. That was Vanderbilt’s record before they hit the turf against Bama last weekend. The entire offensive line had the time of their lives. With Pure domination in the first and second quarter, along with an interception return (TD), the Dores were on point.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Alabama's loss a sign of deeper issues, or just a fluke in their football dynasty?

However, the main star of the show has to be Vanderbilt’s QB Diego Pavia. This dude came out of nowhere. 16 out of 20 passes connected and covered 252 yards during the game. Pavia managed to turn things around and Bama’s defense couldn’t keep up. While we still have doubts regarding this team and its future going into the remainder of their games, what we can say for sure is that Pavia is going to go places.
