Home/College Football

Dillon Gabriel is a player who had an incredible season with the Oregon Ducks in 2024. 72.9 % pass completion rate coupled with 3,857 passing yards for 30 touchdowns places him amongst the rare breed of QBs in college football. But his dance with the colleges has now ended, and now comes the actual test: Pro Football. The large question that looms is: Does he have enough in his tank to test the NFL arena?

Well, apart from his stats he is holistically still a very good quarterback, even for the NFL teams. Sure, playing at that level is quite difficult, but this man has spent a whopping 6 seasons preparing for the same day and playing for 3 colleges. He, of course, is ready to take the test and step into the floodlights for his first NFL snap. Be that as it may, there are still questions at large about his physique, his age, and, more than that, if franchises even want him. Well, here’s the thing.

Standing at around 6 feet tall and weighing 200 lbs certainly doesn’t make his case. But if players like Bryce Young and Russel Wilson can make the cut into the NFL, why can’t Gabriel? Another thing that plagues his NFL draft prospect is the age that will be near 25 when he makes his NFL debut. But, this is also the time when the NFL is increasingly valuing experience in their caders.

Take for example Jayden Daniels or even Bo Nix, both of these players had similar ages. And yet, they have been consistently performing over the years. Sure, this makes Gabriel’s case and will be a major prospect in the Draft. Speaking of the draft, it seems the Las Vegas Raiders are willing to take that bet and are reportedly vying for the QB in the NFL draft. Also, the match between the Raiders and Daniels looks to be quite perfect, too; here’s why.

They have been struggling to find a good QB in their team for some years now. So, they will need firepower in the QB department and also will want a QB that can do that for some years. Dillon Gabriel fits quite aptly in this puzzle this way. Hondo Carpenter, a Raiders insider and an award-winning sports journalist, also talked about the same in his recent episode of ‘ The Las Vegas Raiders Insider Podcast’.

Shedeur Sander’s verdict giving a boost to Gabriel’s chances?

Dillon Gabriel, this guy intrigues me, One scout said he is 100 percent a Bill Parcells-type player with a ton of offensive experience. Bill Parcells used to talk about how much experience he wanted from a guy. He wants him to get it all out in college, this is Dillon Gabriel. Mr. Experience“. And he is right. The most important thing that Las Vegas Raiders need right is experience, and they will surely make a bold move for Daniels. In that spirit, it seems Gabriel does have a piece of good news that will significantly increase his draft pick spot.

Well, we know that Shedeur Sanders is highly touted as the QB going to make a top-five draft pick. But an NFL draft analyst has recently provided a grim scenario for the player. “I think that if he’s a starter in the NFL and goes to the right system, I think he’s more of a mid-tier starting quarterback at the NFL level, but he plays the game in a way that you can start him and feel good about him with a high floor. The big question is, does he have the physical gifts to really be that kind of a quarterback to take you into the playoffs and beyond”? Surely, the statement will raise more eyebrows. But, if this happens to be true or if scouts take heed to such statements, then maybe the sky is now the limit for Dillon Gabriel.
