Is Diego Pavia the next big thing in college football after toppling Alabama's mighty Crimson Tide?

Vanderbilt became a national headliner after beating the nation’s top ranked CFB team. It’s no wonder the Commodores fans lost their senses with this crazy upset 40-35 win against Kalen DeBoer and Alabama. They stormed the football field to celebrate this rare victory against the Crimson Tide without caring for the price they had to pay for their violation of the SEC’s policies. But QB Diego Pavia, who became an overnight sensation, is the one who benefited the most from this historic win.

The SEC fined Vanderbilt $100,000 for the first-time offense when they stormed their field of FirstBank Stadium. But Diego Pavia made up for the loss in just a day, and his is a triple-gain. Guess what leads to a staggering 340K increase in NIL valuation. You’re right, it’s beating Heisman contender Jalen Milroe and the No. 1 Alabama. As per On3 NIL rankings, the Commodores QB now ranks 88 on the list with 711K after the major boost in his income. The abrupt rise in his NIL valuation happened on October 8 after leveraging at the $350K estimate just a day before.

Following the win, interview opportunities opened up for Vandy paving the way for more coverage on the football program. On Monday, Diego Pavia made an appearance on the Dan Patrick Show after signing an NIL deal with Raising Cane’s. For the last 72 hours, NIL deals have been pouring in for the QB. This led him to write his agent’s phone number on his social media for any potential NIL deals.

Needless to say, a lot of major NIL deals could be coming Pavia’s way after his spectacular win. He hinted at his interests during his interview saying, “There’s a lot of brands I’d love to work with. Lululemon, Ferrari and Nike. Oh, and Dr. Pepper, too. My initials are DP, so Dr Pepper would be amazing to work with.” For an under-the-radar QB like Pavia to win against the SEC leader, the attention he’s currently getting is well-deserved.

Diego Pavia is the star of the Alabama vs Vanderbilt showdown

What made this win even more special for Diego Pavia and Vanderbilt is the fact that Vandy hasn’t beaten Alabama in 40 years since 1984. For Alabama, this sore defeat robbed them of their coveted No. 1 spot covered by Steve Sarkisian and Texas. It also marked their first loss against an unranked team after a 134-game winning streak since 2008.

Diego Pavia thanked “God’s timing” for this historic win and said in his post-game conference speech, “Look at this. Look at this. Vanderbilt, we are f—— turnt.” The 23-year-old not only shone in his passing game but he also hyped himself in the rushing game as well racking 56 rushing yards. He completed 16 of 20 passes for 252 yards and two passing touchdowns to make history in the eyes of over 70 family members who traveled to Nashville to witness this once in a lifetime game for Vanderbilt.
