Is Vandy's dream run over with Diego Pavia sidelined against the Longhorns?

The Dores have turned into quite the anomaly this season. With the massive win over Bama, this team got its first-ever win against a ranked opponent in years. And who was behind the success? The QB Diego Pavia. On god, this dude is nothing but explosive. Against a mammoth like the Crimson Tide, Diego Pavia managed to rack in 252 yards along with 2 touchdowns. He managed to complete 16 out of 20 passes during the showdown.

Vandy has been on a 3-win run and how as they take on another major ranked opponent, the Longhorns, they have a chance at making history yet again. However, there is one problem. Going on a run, Pavia was taken off in the downfield. While you might think that it is not a big deal, the problem is that he is in the medical tent now. Teresa Walker 👑 took to X to post, “Diego Pavia in the medical tent for Vandy. Nate Johnson is in at QB. He picked up a first down.”

This ain’t good news for the Dores. Vandy is already struggling against the Longhorns. With 21-7 on the board, the Steve Sarkisian Texan monster has had total control of that turf. The most surprising aspect of this game has been watching Quinn Ewers perform.

Against Georgia, Ewers was disastrous. The game was so, and that Sarkisian had to sideline Ewers and put Arch Manning back on the turf. However, in the Vandy showdown, Ewers has already managed to pick 3 touchdowns with 18 out of 19 passes completed.

As per the latest update, it was found that Pavia had managed to tweak his ankle during the run-pass. There is still no confirmation on if he will return to the game or not. For now, it feels like Nate Johnson has to do the heavy lifting. The question is, can they win it?

Can Vandy bring this home?

After the Bulldogs game, Sarkisian has been in a lot of trouble. This team was on a dominating 6-win run and standing on top of all the lists. Everyone that that Sark and his boys have got it in the bag. Like, if you look at the roster itself, the Longhorns have one of the best offense and defense lineups out there. So what went wrong?

If Sark wanted to win that game, there were 2 things he had to focus on; the biggest threat was QB Carson Beck. He is the big boss of all quarterbacks. Against a prime Bama this season, Carson managed to pull in 400 yards under his belt. This would’ve been Ewers’ biggest challenge, and he blew it. The second thing was stopping the run game. Trevor Etienne had the time of his life that game with 3 touchdowns under his belt. Texan defense just couldn’t stop that run and the game was quickly out of the Longhorns’ hands.

Against Vandy, with Pavia out, all of this shouldn’t be a problem. While there was quite a brawl from the Dores in the first half, the fire seems to have been extinguished. With Johnson taking over, it does not look like the Dores can bring this one home. Still, this is CFB. Literally, anything can happen here.
