When Cam Ward is here, there is nothing for Miami to fear. It ain’t no wonder why this guy is sitting on the top of the Heisman ladder. With a jaw-dropping opener against a 3x national championship-winning team (Gators), Cam Ward locked in and grabbed 3 touchdowns and 1 interception along with 385 yards. 41-17 the Hurricane moped the floor with the Gators and then went along to grab 3 back-to-back wins against Florida A&M, SF, and the Cardinals. Behind all of this success was their QB Cam Ward.

So we weren’t surprised when we got the news that multiple NFL scouts would be present to observe Ward during the Virginia Tech game. Geo Millian took to X on September 28th to share, “Scouts from the Cardinals, Texans, Titans, and Jaguars are just a few among the NFL teams here to watch No. 7 Miami and Cam Ward vs. Virginia Tech.” Ward is sitting with a +450  Heisman odds right now and that says a lot.

Just 4 games in, and this guy has already managed to rack in over 1400 yards under his belt. If that ain’t enough, his completion rate has been on point; 72.4%. Cam Ward has also landed 14 touchdown passes in all 4 games combined. Now if you really wanna understand how good this guy is, you have to check the tape of the SF game. The Bulls are a team that almost managed to bring a powerhouse like the Crimson Tide down. Kalen DeBoer and his boys had a rough time against the SF defense and offense.

Now, switched back to Miami, SF tried giving a similar tough show, and it was a constant back-and-forth. The 1st quarter had 2 touchdowns from the Hurricanes. However, in the 2nd quarter, the Bulls’ defense came into play and the Hurricanes only managed to grab a single TD. From the 3rd quarter, it was all in Miami’s favor. With back-to-back TDs, Ward & Co. sealed the game. And honestly, we would be lying if we said Cam Ward is the only guy from Miami you should keep your eye on.

Hurricanes WR Xavier Restrepo has had an amazing chemistry with Ward. This allowed him to rack up 362 receiving yards with 5 touchdowns. Being a part of the Hurricanes since 2020, Restrepo is one of the main pillars of the Hurricanes offense. Now, to balance things out, we got Jaden Harris from the defense. In just 4 games, Harris has already managed to pull 21 tackles. However, with the Hokies game ongoing, can these star players and Hurricanes pull through this as well?

What’s your perspective on:

Is Cam Ward the next big thing in the NFL, or are we overhyping another college player?

Have an interesting take?

And it’s 4:21 on the clock in the 1st quarter and the Hokies are giving Miami quite the fight. While Cam Ward is the revelation the Miami offense always needed, you gotta keep in mind that the Tech defense won’t be making it easy.

Over the last 3 seasons, Virginia Tech has only allowed around 24 points and stands in the 29th spot in FBS. The Hokies secondary ain’t playing around. Virginia Tech would look to stop any and all explosive plays from the Hurricanes.

The biggest winning factor for Miami would be the QB battle. For the Hokies, Kyron Drones has been average at best. The entire offensive line would not last if Miami followed the same run-stop philosophy. As per the PFF, Miami is still the top 5th tackling team in CFB so you can pretty much figure out where things can head. This entire thing would be an amazing back-and-forth game but do let us know who you think would come out on top.
