Shedeur Sanders snubbed—Is the AP All-American list losing credibility with such glaring omissions?

Shedeur Sanders is sure on a roll! Even though he was snubbed by the Associated Press for their preseason All-America team, his NFL draft stock is skyrocketing.

It’s a bit of a bummer that he didn’t make the list, especially when his rival Carson Beck from Georgia and his teammate Travis Hunter did. But hey, that hasn’t stopped NFL teams from showing interest in the Buffs star quarterback. And the latest team to join the list is the New York Jets.

On August 19th, the “Unapologetically Buffs,” X handle shared a clip showing a Jets college scout, Jon Carr, at a Colorado practice talking with Sanders. “Jon Carr (New York Jets scout) at Colorado practice talking to Shedeur Sanders 👀 Could New York be a landing spot for Shedeur going into the NFL?” the post asked.

For some, it’s surprising to see the Jets eyeing Shedeur, but for others, it makes perfect sense. Earlier this week, PFF Football also hinted that Shedeur Sanders could be a potential replacement for Aaron Rodgers on the New York Jets. While they acknowledge that Sanders may need to work more on his leadership skills, they have no doubts about “his ability to command an offense on the field and distribute the football.”

With Rodgers now 40 years old and more prone to injuries, like the recently torn Achilles, he could become more of a liability as time goes on. So, why not Shedeur? However, it won’t be easy for the Jets—they’ll likely face tough competition from other teams in the AFC. Especially, the Dallas Cowboys and the Las Vegas Raiders.

Have an interesting take?

The Las Vegas Raiders have been a top contender for landing Shedeur Sanders since the mock drafts began. Even analysts like ESPN’s Matt Miller and Bleacher Report have predicted the Buffs QB could end up in silver and black. With growing buzz around Shedeur joining the Raiders, the media even asked Coach Prime about it during the Big 12 media day last month. Deion Sanders simply responded, “That would be nice,” giving his approval for the Raiders. But he also hints at a wish for his QB son to land with his former team, the Dallas Cowboys—the team he won a Super Bowl with.

Now, speculations are already swirling that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones might “move mountains” to draft Shedeur. Last week, the NFL Rookie Watch X page even posted that Shedeur is the “apple of Jones’ eyes.” Well, this interest is partly due to the rising contract value of current Cowboys QB Dak Prescott, which could soar to $65 million, making Shedeur an attractive option for Jones. Even earlier this month, Joe from the Carlin vs. Joe show also noted, “I think Jerry’s head is already in Shedeur Sanders… I’d be stunned if he didn’t have a conversation with Deion already.”

With Shedeur’s impressive 69% pass completion rate, it’s easy to see why so many teams are interested. Now, it’s just a matter of months before we find out where Shedeur will land in this draft carousel.
