Home/College Football

“Dark Horse” of college football. At this point, you just feel bad about the entire scene. Coming off of a strong win against a run-heavy team like UCF, everyone thought that Deion Sanders had the Wildcats game in the and as well. What’s the maximum they had to do? Stop the run game, right? Well, for Deion Sanders, that just didn’t happen. The Wildcats collected around 224 rushing yards during that game. Compare it with the 177 rush yards for the Knights; you can see where things went wrong.

And if all of that wasn’t enough, the Buffs game time was getting pushed to a very weird time slot. Back on X, Brian Howell brought us the update that the Buffs vs Cincinnati game, which is happening next week, has been slated for an 8:15 p.m. MDT kickoff. You can argue that this is one of the most prime time slots for any CFB game, however there is one issue. One account on X was quick to point out a fact regarding the “late game”. “WTH is up with ESPN doing these late a– game ?!!! Smh that’s 10pm est,” they noted.

Howell acknowledged the fact and noted that the timing was quite ‘brutal’ for people living around the East. In all honestly, it is not a bad time slot. Buffs will get the numbers advantage either way, but yes, it is true that for some people, the timing can be a bit hectic.

However, the main thing to keep an eye on is the fact that the dynasty collapsed against Kansas State, everyone is coming for Deion Sanders and his boys with their pitchforks out. This should’ve been a winning game. While the Wildcats were in the lead till the 3rd quarter, the Buffs did manage to turn things around and almost had it in the bag. If it wasn’t for Joyce Brown’s 50-yard touchdown, then Deion Sanders would’ve had the W.

It’s like Coach Prime takes 2 steps forward and 1 back. Somehow, after defeating a team like the Knights, the D-line falters against the Wildcats. The entire defense barely managed to contain the run game, and even Deion Sanders acknowledged this fact. During the post-game conference, Coach Prime noted, “(Wildcats) ran the heck out of the football.” That isn’t even the worst part. Gearing up for Cincinnati, one major issue that could bring down the remainder of the season for Deion Sanders is Travis Hunter’s injury.

Travis Hunter is out

What’s your perspective on:

Can Deion Sanders rally the Buffs without Travis Hunter, or is this season slipping away?

Have an interesting take?

Is Travis Hunter taking up too much pressure? While it is true that the 2-way star has quite the skills on both offense and defense, after the Kansas State game, it feels like Hunter is trying to achieve way too much in a very short time. Hunter sustained a right shoulder injury midway into the game and had to sit on the sideline and watch the remainder of the thrashing playoff.

On the offense and defense, Hunter was arguably the best player for the Buffs. We saw what he did against Baylor, the Rams, and even the Knights. Losing all that power from the frontline is going to scar the team quite badly. More so because it is not even sure if Hunter will make it to the Cincinnati showdown.

And it’s not only him. Jimmy Horn Jr. and Omarion Miller are also out. Horn and Miller both suffered an ankle injury. These are massive blows to the entire Buffs offensive line. Losing 2 of the best WRs on the team ain’t gonna cut it. While there is still time, let’s hope Hunter and Horn make it back.
