The Sanders family certainly knows how to stay busy; there’s always a lot going on. Forget just the on-field magic of Shilo and Shedeur Sanders. Then there’s Deion Sanders‘ media darling, Bucky, backing the Buffs, and young Shelomi tearing it up on the Alabama A&M basketball court. And Deiondra, the eldest? Yeah, the one who turned heads last offseason with her pregnancy and engagement to R&B star Jacquees. She’s a fashionista who rarely lets the spotlight wander from her red carpet presence. Modeling is her passion, and she loves to captivate her followers with stunning outfits and diverse styles, showcasing various brands on her profile.
Recently, the new mom partnered with the Fashion Nova X Janet Guzman collection, promoting their collaborative launch, the “Fantasy Faux Leather Mini Dress,” in a unique runway-style presentation. And who was her biggest cheerleader in the comments? Her mother, of course.
Fashion Nova, tagged prominently in her caption, is one of Deiondra’s go-to brands. She frequently shares her favorite Fashion Nova looks, even during her pregnancy photoshoots. But this time, receiving a shoutout from Carolyn Chambers, Deion Sanders’ first wife, felt particularly special. Carolyn, who separated from Deion in 1998 and later remarried Dallas Mavericks player Erick Strickland, has always maintained a close bond with her daughter. Even as a grandmother, Carolyn plays her role with grace, offering unwavering support throughout Deiondra’s pregnancy journey and adoring her grandson with sweet, heartfelt confessions like, “So cute… I love him ❤️❤️❤️.”

Carolyn’s support isn’t limited to online affirmations. Recently, Deiondra co-hosted the LEADHER Awards at the Canadian Museum of History, celebrating International Women’s Day, presented by RBC. She looked stunning in a sleek black dress paired with a long white shrug. And, as always, her mother was among the first to express her admiration. “Get yours, baby girl,” Carolyn commented, playfully encouraging her daughter. It’s clear that Carolyn isn’t just offering empty praise; Deiondra truly looked radiant in the classic black and white ensemble, given a modern, elegant twist.

However, Deiondra’s life isn’t solely defined by her connection to her mother. She shares an equally strong emotional bond with her father’s side of the family, particularly with her grandmother, Connie. On International Women’s Day, Coach Prime poured out a heartfelt tribute to his mother, which, as it happens, coincided with Connie’s birthday. Deiondra, not to be outdone, followed her father’s lead, posting her own Instagram shoutout to wish her grandmother a happy birthday. Being Connie’s first grandchild, Deiondra, affectionately known as “Ondra” by her grandmother, shared a simple yet touching message: “Happy birthday Grandma ❤️.”
Beyond her immediate family, it appears Deiondra is also emerging as a voice for women everywhere. She’s not just a daughter, granddaughter, a mother, or model; she’s using her platform to celebrate and empower women.
Deiondra’s observance of women’s day went beyond family tribute
This Women’s Day, Deiondra didn’t just celebrate; she took action, choosing to raise awareness about women’s pregnancy health and educate men on some crucial basics. The daughter of NFL legend and Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders took to X on Wednesday to emphasize the need for educational resources that empower men to understand and support women facing postpartum challenges.

Deiondra’s own pregnancy journey was fraught with critical health complications, including risk of miscarriage, placenta accreta, complications from fibroid myomectomy surgery, and a shortened cervix. These personal experiences clearly fueled her passion for advocacy. Even her decision to co-host the LEADHER Awards, an event celebrating inspiring women leaders, was deeply rooted in her desire to make a difference. As she shared on her Instagram, “What makes this event even more meaningful is that all proceeds will go towards the acquisition of the first-ever reproductive care home for pregnant Black women experiencing homelessness. This home will provide essential pre and post-natal care, as well as equip these incredible moms to thrive in society. It’s a truly unique and necessary project that I am proud to support.”
Beyond supporting tangible projects, Deiondra recognized the need for a societal shift. She believes it’s high time that society, particularly men, educate themselves about the struggles and the mental and physical needs of their wives, daughters, and girlfriends during this challenging phase of life. She tweeted, “I wish they taught a class that told men how to deal with postpartum.”

Postpartum depression, a significant yet often overlooked issue, is frequently misconstrued as self-centeredness, indifference towards the child, or a failure to be an ideal mother. In reality, it’s a complex response to the profound physical and mental changes women experience. It demands love, care, and understanding. Deiondra’s decision to raise her voice is a crucial first step. Hopefully, the world will follow her lead.
