Is Deion Sanders right to protect Shedeur from joining a team that might hinder his growth?

Shedeur Sanders is a great college football quarterback. No matter whether you love or hate him, the kid is a natural on the field. He’s leading Colorado to their first bowl appearance since 2020. This boosts his importance even further, especially for Deion Sanders, who has to come face to face with his son’s NFL future next year. And he doesn’t want his QB son to be with the wrong team.

In a new YouTube upload on SPEAK on November 13, Deion Sanders was asked if he would step in if the wrong organization tried to draft Shedeur Sanders. He boldly stated, “Yeah. But I’m not gonna do it publicly. I’m gonna do it privately.” Whether in front or behind eyes, the Buffs HC has admitted that he’s going to get in between the affair if the destination isn’t favorable for him.

This isn’t the first time Deion Sanders declared that he would let his sons pull an Eli Manning if the wrong teams try to land them. Despite the social media upheaval it caused, it looks like his thoughts haven’t changed. So, what happens to the team that’s fighting for Shedeur’s interest? Are they in Deion Sanders’ favor?

As far as the NFL Draft buzz goes, Shedeur Sanders could be a potential target for the Las Vegas Raiders. As a QB-deficient team, the Raiders need to climb up the numbers to draft the 22-year-old Buffs star, who is projected as one of the top 3 QBs across several mock drafts. After they traded star receiver Davante Adams and Shedeur’s past post where he shared about Tom Brady’s ultimate success with the $6.7B franchise, rumors about the interest of this highly-touted QB surfaced. So what does Deion Sanders think about the Raiders?

Shedeur Sanders’ odds with the Raiders

The good news for the Raiders fans is that Deion Sanders doesn’t mind Shedeur Sanders being in Las Vegas. He said, “I love what (Antonio Pierce) brings to the table. I don’t want him to lose to the point where he has the ability to get Shedeur. Let’s get that straight. I don’t want that to happen, I really don’t. But I wouldn’t mind if, some kind of way, it happens that (Shedeur) is here.”

Don’t get your hopes up though. This statement was made in July and a lot has transpired since. The Raiders have fallen 2-7 as they take their bye-week and their pursuit for Shedeur hasn’t slowed. In last week’s post-NFL trade deadline mock draft by Nick Baumgardner, the Raiders are predicted to have the third overall pick where they picked Shedeur. More development will creep up once the regular college football season gets over. Hopefully, no Eli Manning situation will repeat itself. Well, what’s up for Shedeur Sanders in 2025?
