Déjà vu for Coach Prime and co. as they prepare for a date this weekend in Tucson with an ex-star. And, boy, oh, boy, things are getting heated up. As we move through half-way in regular season, it’s all to see if Deion Sanders and co. will be the happy side of the two when they meet Montana Lemonious-Craig of Arizona Wildcats. He recently uprooted some buried corpses that still put frown lines on some Buffs fan.

Now, the Wildcats’ wide receiver did put his hand in the jaw of the tiger with his statement a little. Or let’s say, made the Buffaloes angry. “It’s always going to be a bit more personal.” Once a shining star for the Buffaloes said in a press-conference. Well, I don’t deny that for the senior who now dons the colors of Arizona has a chip on his shoulder. But he might have to face the Buffs wraith in the process. As the Buffs lead the head-to-head with 16-10 and are 4-2 against the spread this season.

Why the switch, you ask? That is what left people at the Boulder in shock back in 2023. You see, he was a productive player for the Buffs with 25 career games, starting 12. He Had 33 receptions for 482 yards and five touchdowns. “At the end of the day, I want to make plays,” he stated after getting to know that he’d have to compete with the like of Travis Hunter. The move makes sense now as Deion Sanders has moved on to other WRs.

“It’s all business at the end of the day. I see this as a business trip about helping my team win football games”. Comments from Lemonious-Craig from the same interview, posted on X. His team although had a good ‘business trip’ last season defeating Colorado 34-31 where this dude grabbed five receptions for a season-high 67 receiving yards. That would’ve pinched The Buffs for sure.

See, as of now, the guy who says it’s ‘personal’ has been inconsistent with only his first touchdown coming against the defeat to BYU. But is surely positive momentum for Montana Craig. Talking about the stats this season, he sits with 6 game played receiving the ball for 17 times and gained 172 yards. While these aren’t Heisman numbers, he still remains the key player for the Wildcats and can be a thorn in the Buffs side. Unless stopped by a familiar name.

What’s your perspective on:

Will Montana Lemonious-Craig's 'personal' vendetta fuel Arizona's victory over Deion Sanders' Buffs this weekend?

Deion Sanders need to seize the opportunity

Imagine not even being at your 100% but still feared by your opponents. While Travis Hunter is still making a slow return, he remains a big threat. While Montana Lemonious-Craig confidently said,” As for my matchup against Travis Hunter, I’m gonna treat him just like another cornerback” which is bold. You don’t treat the two-way star just like another cornerback. That’s nuts.

As we dissect strategies for the Buffs, Colorado’s offensive lineup is more dynamic than ever, with speedsters and the 6’2” gunslinger Shedeur Sanders. Shedeur even managed to keep the Buffs alive and almost clutched a win if it wasn’t for Joyce Brown and his 50-yard touchdown run. Their potential lies in harnessing the versatility of their playmakers.

This is a winnable game for the Buffs. But it’s the same song, a different verse for Prime’s team. Preventing the mistakes against Arizona will be life-changing in seizing the opportunity. But the key question now is how ‘personal’ is it going to get in week 8.
