You may love or hate Deion Sanders, but it’s next to impossible for you to ignore the Colorado Buffaloes HC. After all, he has some kind of magical powers that add up to an unparalleled pull. While it’s a known fact in the Buffs hood, even it did not take the new 2025 class commit, the ex-Buford LB, Mantrez Walker much time to know about the Prime effect.
Finally, Deion’s hard work seems to be paying off. Since February this year, he had his eyes on the athlete and now he finally has bounded the linebacker in his charm. So much so that Walker even pulled off an iconic Deion look from one of Coach Prime’s very special days.

The hunt for Walker had started quite early this season. And it has not been an on-and-off wooing game. Instead, Deion buckled down from the start. Even before committing to the Buffs, the LB said, “They have been on me the most with contact daily and constant pursuit for me.” So right from the beginning Coach Prime continued to cast a spell on Walker with his charm. Time for the 2025 Colorado commit to share how things have been going in the Buffs hood with HC Deion Sanders around. On the On3 podcast, he started with, “Man it’s definitely crazy just seeing how coach Prime has turned that program and city around, just the whole aura of the city like from being where they was at before he got there to what’s going on now is completely surreal.”
When the On3 host asked Walker how committed he was to the Buffs on a scale of 1 to 10, he confidently said, “100 percent.” And it’s pretty obvious he said that, as Deion has really turned things around for the Buffs. Even the average Joe can spot the growth.

Coach Prime has gifted the program with innovative training like the US Corps and the Navy-Marine that contributed to revving up athletic abilities. Not just that, the Buffs now owe Deion for coming up with a $253 million boost in media value. In turn, with this, there has been a 40% increase in out-of-state student applications. So now you know how difficult it must have been for Walker to resist the Coach Prime charm as he ended up recreating a special look from Deion’s 1989 Draft Day.
Mantrez Walker’s tribute to Deion Sanders
This season has been a rough ride for Deion Sanders. Coming off a 4-8 narrative from last season, Coach Prime left no stone unturned to make the 2024 season all about Colorado. In doing so, he hardly had any time to soak in his own victories from the past. From bolstering the O-line to keep Shedeur out of harm’s way to perfecting the gameplan, the Buffs HC did it all. Right then Walker thought of making Deion feel special.

Sometime around his Boulder visit, the 6-foot-1, 255lbs linebacker, recreated Sanders’ iconic look from his NFL draft day back in 1989. Back in June, the LB posted a series of snaps channeling off a look from Deion’s special day dressed in sunnies and a white-colored hoodie posing with a wired telephone.
Not even the attire and the props, Mantrez Walker carried the iconic picture where Deion Sanders was seated on a couch raising his two hands up in the air showing his happiness after getting drafted. You may like it or not, but now Colorado has officially entered the Deion Sanders era, and is now woven with the charisma and flair of Coach Prime!
