As they say, legends are born and not made. While Deion Sanders himself is a born legend, he has eyes for all things legendary. That being said, the Buffs HC got his son Shedeur Sanders into this football game long before he himself took up the reins as the maestro and Shedeur as the QB.
Amidst the 2024 kick-off, an old video went viral featuring the father-son duo engrossed in some sweat sessions. The throwback video had a heartfelt promise recorded in it. It’s amazing how Deion still lives up to the same promise made years ago.

The video was posted by Coach Prime TV on September 19. It captured the father-son duo engrossed in a cross-training session at the gym. And Deion being Deion, he even turned the workout session into some engrossing impromptu pep-talk session. As seen in the video, Shedeur who had been still in his teens is spotted in a morossed mood. All he was in dire need of was Daddy Dear’s vocal tonic. Deion called him, put him on his lap, and tried igniting the fire to be the best within Shedeur.
The Buffs HC started with, “Come here what’s your last name?” “Sanders,” replied Shedeur as lowly as possible. To rev him up, his dad then came up with an interesting insight, “That we’re confident that we’re tough we could make it through anything” enough to make his young blood boil.

All that Deion wanted was to pump Shedeur to try things on his own. But once his son tried things independently (lifting weights in this case as spotted in the video) he ensured that Shedeur felt safe. And here came Coach Prime with the ultimate reassurance, “I’m not going to let something take advantage of you.” “That’s what a daddy is. I’m here to protect you and guide you and lead you I got you, man,” promised Deion. That’s something Coach Prime ensures to do without fail till today.
Deion’s parenting is a perfect blend of protectiveness and tough love
The last season had been really tough for Deion Sanders. After all, the Buffs HC had to see his son get sacked 52 times and instead of making records for all things good, landed as the most sacked player in college football. Maybe, the HC got perturbed with a lingering concern constantly playing in his mind ‘What happened to your promise?’ So, right from the beginning of 2024, Deion worked towards bolstering his O-Line.
Back in July in an interview with ESPN, he re-iterated his prime goal for this season, “We got to protect that quarterback. That’s No. 1.” And as planned, he did land some notable names in the revamped O-line like Jordan Seaton and Tyler Brown among others. But even then Shedeur suffered badly against Nebraska Cornhuskers. If you think, that Deion supported the QB blindly, that’s surely not the case.

Instead, Deion Sanders got all brutal while criticizing Shedeur Sanders for his silly mistakes against Dylan Raiola and Co. that landed him not one, not two, but FIVE SACKS. And what’s amazing is that Deion did not turn a blind eye to the QB’s mistakes. Instead, he unleashed his strict dad side, “We came out and Shedeur did something very uncared of himself. Never makes a bad decision, especially in that part of the field in which they got a pick-six.” The Buffs QB is one lucky man. Feeling low? Shedeur’s got the ultimate pick-me-up on speed dial, his old video with Papa Prime.
Now that Shedeur Sanders is making some noise with a $5.1 million NIL value, if you want to know more about NIL you can look into the Think Tank podcast with Dawg Sanders.
