The 2024 season will make or break the Buffs. With the changes done to the team, Deion Sanders is hoping for a good run. However, the most pressure could be on Shedeur Sander’s shoulder. Last year, despite solid stats, they still focused on his sack rate, which was the highest of all. But today, we got an unlikely friend giving Shedeur a much-needed boost. It just feels like yesterday when Deion Sanders was getting bashed for his “rude” behavior with a CBS reporter. However, back on August 13th we finally got to see the real picture. From the press conference itself, Deion was spotted saying, “I thank you for your love, love, and impact.” Ultimately, squashing the beef that was blown out of proportion.

Now, we have CBS Sports sharing some solid news about the Buffs and its most prized QB Shedeur Sanders, snubbing Carson Beck in the process. On August 20th, CBS posted on X that, “@FBallGameplan’s Top 5 QBs in college football heading into 2024.” Emory Hunt (FBallGameplan) was quick to mention that Shedeur Sanders is the best QB in college football right now. “I’m a big fan of what he brings to the table. As a pure QB prospect, he is someone who does a great job,” Hunt mentioned. This is a major hit to Carson Beck and his standing as the No.1 QB. Back on July 19th, we saw NFL Analyst Daniel Jeremiah talking about what makes Beck one of the best players right now. That kid has a solid ability to power the ball through tight windows. Not only that, he is amazing when it comes down to playing from the pocket. While Shedeur is amazing at driving the ball downfield, it’s those pockets that tend to rock him. Matt Miller from ESPN noted, “Beck is the player who is the top quarterback in this class….whereas Shedeur Sanders, very surgical but he gets rocked in those pockets.” Heck, even back in June we saw Rivals releasing early odds for the Heisman trophy, putting Beck in the No.1 spot with 800 odds and Shedeur in the No.5 with 3000 odds.

Daniel Kelly had mentioned an important point about Shedeur as well. “folds like a tent under pressure,” Kelly had noted. When it comes to Beck, he handles the pressure perfectly and has a solid presence on the field. This is enough to make anyone wonder why CBS and Emory Hunt would pick Shedeur over Beck. However, if we look at last season itself, Shedeur landed around 30+ touchdowns and had a completion rate of around 69%. Those are not bad stats. We can all agree that last year Coach Prime made a big mistake when he forgot to train Shedeur’s defenses properly, landing him in the most sacked bracket. However, this year Deion has brought in Pat Shurmur to the team to help out Shedeur and the boys with their techniques. Not only that, the team also has 6 new members for the offensive line, making it much stronger. The training that Shedeur is getting right now would easily make him the best in the NCAA. However, the same cannot be said for Beck.

Problems for the Bulldogs

While Beck, as a standalone player, is a monster, without a proper O-line he is going to get rocked. We got the injury update from Kirby Smart himself back on August 13th. The fall camp for the Bulldogs was brought. “we have a lot of guys that are soft tissue, beat up, banged up, and we’re trying to get them back,” Smart had noted. This is a major problem. Without a solid O-line, we might see Beck face what Shedeur did last year.

While Daniel Jeremiah did mention that Beck is amazing when it comes down to defending himself in a triangle of defenders, without the proper backing or support from his O-line, he won’t be able to do much. Currently, DL Warren Brinson, OLB Chaz Chambliss, and OL Jared Wilson are suffering from hamstring injuries and Achilles. If Smart doesn’t fix this in time then Beck can say goodbye to his No.1 title.
