“We got Coach Prime, so you never know what you might get.” 5 years and $29.5 million. Even with that much money, rebuilding isn’t easy when you get handed a 1-11 program packaged in wet toilet paper. But for Deion Sanders? In 2 years, the Buffs have gone from “I don’t even know that program” to “Colorado a serious Big 12 and playoff contender?”. The accusation of Deion Sanders “playing for clicks” was wiped under the floor when Colorado ended their 2024 run with 9 wins. But how was any of this even possible? “But I can see the future, and it looks real good,” Coach Prime had once said. This future was achievable through one thing, which will also potentially decide Colorado’s 2025 run…
….5th February. “You’re hoping to flip someone and you’re hoping that none of your guys get flipped. It’s a nasty, vicious game, but it’s, uh, it is to be played,” Deion Sanders pointed out on Prime Video exclusive show Coach Prime. This decides everything. Colorado’s success under the first year of Deion’s coaching was primarily an effect of “flipping someone”. Roll back the tapes and go to Jackson State. “He’s not the biggest, he’s not the fastest, he’s not the strongest. He’s just the best,” former Meadowcreek coach Todd Wofford had pointed out about Travis Hunter.
Started the college run with a commitment to FSU then flipped over to Jackson State to play for Deion Sanders. Imagine a Colorado era without Hunter. Hard to believe, right? The Seminoles were 1st in the ACC and the running champs for the natty back in 2023. Playing for a team like that would’ve been a big deal for Hunter.

But as fate would have it, his love for 2-way and the run for the Heisman was destined to be successful under Coach Prime. Jordan Seaton, Dre’lon Miller, Kahlil Benson, B.J. Green, Nikhai Hill-Green… Colorado’s 2024 signing class was the creme of the crop for the program. Something they had missed out on in their first year with Deion.
This total change allowed the Buffs to dominate and go on 1 3-win streak and 1 4-win streak. None of it would’ve been possible if they hadn’t gnawed and clawed and flipped some really promising players. Could the season have ended on a better note? Yes, any Buffs fan will say so. But did the Buffs end the year as a CFP Top 25 and AP Top 25? Yes, and there is more to come…

The most important aspect of the 2025 season is filling the big hole left by Shedeur Sanders, Hunter, and many more. You see, for Deion, the NFL draft is going to hit pretty hard. Not only is Colorado losing their top QB but they will also lose out on their 2-way star. How do you fill this void?
You flip. Trojans were having the time of their lives with QB Julian Lewis locked in. The top quarterback of the 2025 class starting for Lincoln Riley? Redemption year was here. But not so fast. In November 2024 we watched Juju flip from the Trojans to the Buffs. “It’s definitely perfect timing!” the guy said as he sat on the golden throne.
And how can we forget Kaidon Salter? Took Liberty to a 13-1 run in his breakout year and is now going to be with the Buffs? 2 birds, 1 stone. But you know what they say? The game giveth and the game taketh away.

Hill-Green dropped the news on December 22nd that he is flipping to Alabama. Then you got Carter Miller going back to the Trojans right after his commitment to the Buffs. “It’s a nasty, vicious game.” But hey, game is game and we cannot wait to see how Deion and Buffs play it next season…
