Is Deion Sanders the best thing to happen to Colorado football in recent years?

Remember the last time when the Colorado Buffaloes faced the Baylor Bears, Deion Sanders said he just didn’t trust the local meteorologist? Yes, he came off as the most confident HC unbothered by the rain. This time too, the weather couldn’t dampen the Buffs’ parade at FBC Mortgage Stadium, Florida. Rather Hurricane Helene has been a blessing in disguise for Deion’s army to crush the UCF Knights in a 21-48 heroic feat. Well, Shedeur Sanders and co. have never looked better than they did on September 28, Saturday!

Things were going well for the Big 12 matchup between Deion’s army and Gus Malzahn’s crew until the hurricane decided to crash the party. And definitely it caused hindrance in the play as post-game the Buffs HC confirmed, “We had a few distractions because of this storm, so we ending in here early.” Just before the game kicked off at 3:30 p.m. it got delayed to 4:05 p.m. Later, it was further pushed back to 4:20 p.m. until it was confirmed, “pending no lightning strikes within 8 miles.”

But the rain failed to make the Buffs lose sight of their motive. Instead, what’s even more surprising is the fact that they had taken control over the Knights from the very beginning. Moving into the halftime they already had a 13-point lead. But how? As Deion claimed, “So that game was really intent-focused.” They somehow were able to attend to the three most important factors for any game.

“We protected. We were able to run the [football], we were able to stop the run on several occasions,” revealed Coach Prime. Maybe somewhere the natural calamity brought the Buffs together working as a team which Deion couldn’t help but boast about, “But this is one of the first time that offensively, defensively as well as special teams we all came at the same time collectively.” While Hurricane Helene raged through Florida it was the Buffs’ rage at the FBC Mortgage Stadium.

Knights’ game plan washed away by Deion Sanders’ crew

Deion Sanders’ army had hit the pedal from the very beginning. While UCF was almost going to be the first team to score on Saturday, the Buffs CB Preston Hodge had other plans. He elevated to intercept Knights QB KJ Jefferson, and soon the takeaway gifted Colorado with the first touchdown.

Malzahn’s squad then came up with a thunder-blunder mistake! Leaving the Buffs dual-threat Travis Hunter in 1-on-1 coverage. And soon the Knights had to pay for it as Deion’s QB-son Shedeur Sanders capped off an 11-play, 8–yard by finding the two-way star and came with a 23-yard score in the first quarter. Well, it was his second big play after the Hail Mary pass against the Bears.

Also, Preston Hodge’s interception of KJ Jefferson was not the only one. The Buffs’ dual threat Travis Hunter too intercepted the Knights QB with an outstanding diving effort running to the end zone. With this, while the hurricane turned out to be a boon for Deion Sanders, it rained on Gus Malzahn’s “seize the moment” blueprint.
