Should Deion Sanders have addressed the racism allegations, or is he right to keep his focus on the game?

Colorado vs Nebraska. This should have been THE game. However, as we all saw, the mighty have now fallen. The game gave way to Shedeur Sanders getting sacked multiple times and Deion Sanders’ O-line failing to save him. Not only that, despite learning the shortcomings of the roster after the season opener against the Bisons, the CU staff and Deion Sanders still made all the wrong decisions. BJ Green’s speed and talent were wasted by slanting him on the inside. Tyler Brown was forced to play tackle and Omarion Miller was benched. The entire game was pure embarrassment. The Huskers went on to blast Shedeur’s song in the locker room to mock him and the Buffs.

However, that ain’t all. Apparently, CU director of player personnel Corey Phillips was quick to call out Nebraska for using racial slurs against the Buffs after the loss. And this is what gave way to today’s conversation. At the September 11 press conference before the Rams vs Buffs game, Deion was asked about the incident. “I heard about it, but you gotta understand now, whoever reported it wasn’t one of our guys.” Deion quickly shut down the topic. This is weird, especially because someone as reputed as Phillips brought the entire incident to light. “Losing is one thing, the use of the N-word towards our staff and kids ain’t a good look,” Phillips had mentioned in his post on X. The alleged incident took place when Buffs players were packing up, and a Huskers fan yelled out slurs toward the team.

The entire thing feels like a “he said, she said” drama. We have yet to see any concrete evidence of it happening. However, Deion did take a small jab while talking about this incident. “When you guys say it happened, don’t it mean it happened?” Deion said while laughing. This was a subtle way to call out media outlets and how they exaggerate any news involving Deion Sanders or the Buffs. While you might be wondering if Deion is still salty about the entire Denver Post drama, then no, this is something new.

Barstool Sports had taken to X after the Huskers game to report that Deion Sanders had asked the school band not to play the fight song after Shedeur Sanders’ touchdown pass. Deion quickly pointed out at the September 11th press conference that it was “idiotic” and the report was false. While some of us had hoped that the entire drama would end there, this is Coach Prime. He ain’t letting this go easy.

“I could get personal if I wanted to, but I choose not to because it’s not right.” Coach Prime quickly issued a direct threat to media outlets after the entire issue had happened. Deion’s main take was that other people who are associated with the program (the band members and the alumni) are often affected badly by fake news. Deion made it very clear that he has the family ties and the following to suppress the outlets but chooses not to because “it’s not right”. Can this land Deion in another drama, just like the Denver Post and CBS thing did? We gotta wait and watch.
